If this car doesn't get your blood going, you really really don't like driving.
That's a 12-second droptop. 12 seconds to go up, 12 seconds to go down. That's twice as fast as in a Mercedes SLK... and it weighs about half-as-much, too. It only adds about thirty kilos to the car... which isn't very much on a modern car, considering you can lose about ten kilos by changing to lighter rims.
It's quick, relatively fuel efficient, nimble, and (finally) weatherproof... what more do you need in a sports car? Damn, I want one....

Admittedly, until they produce a new Mazdaspeed version, you're pretty much limited to the 1.8 or the 160hp 2.0.
Still, the 160hp Mazda MX-5 Miata PRHT will scoot to 60 mph in 7.5 seconds, fast enough to have fun in. And Mazdas have never been about straight line speed, anyway... they're more about carving through corners.

niky... AFAIK that 2.0L engine is good for 170 horses for the Miata.
nevertheless I want a powered hardtop version!!! perfect for Philippine weather!

Hmmm... maybe the quote was for the current Miata. With 170 hp, the 2007 Miata should be a tiny bit quicker, maybe 7.4 seconds to 60 mph. And there's always a Jackson Supercharger kit... who cares about the extra expense if you're already spending the money...
The price is also interesting... All indications point to the Miata PRHT coming in at 25k dollars... which means it could sell here (officially) for 2 million or less.

i like it, i like it a lot. 170 ponies in a 2500 lbs. car should be more than enough. plus like niky said, mazdas are canyon carvers, not straight line performers.
The serpentine belt is still okay, usual consumables (air filter, oifl filter, cabin filter) got...
