Yup, '14 up CX5s got iStop, current CX3s & 9s, none. They have an iStop switch that's defaulted to ON everytime you restart the car. The hood switch flipping is 1 of the few cheats to keep it off always. This tweak is reversible.

thanks travajante! researched this and it says about having an effect on the car alarm, is this something that can be remedied?
Also, can i use a normal car battery if i disable istop this way?

If I use a normal car battery, will istop not be activated? Or if istop is disabled, will it be safe to use a normal car battery?

How are the prices of spare parts for CX-5 compared to other CUV's (CRV, Xtrail, Tucson)?

The best option is still to use the recommended Start/Stop EFB or AGM batt & a CTEK CT5 start/stop batt conditioner to extend its life. This eliminates warranty worries should you be caught w/ batt related gremlins & a non Start/Stop batt in your iStop equipped vehicle.
You're no longer restricted to the dealerships on batt availability & cost anyway. Panasonic, Delkor & Yuasa now offer more reasonably priced ones locally.
On ownership cost, Mazda's Yojin3 maintenance & warranty programs relieve us of unexpected out-of-pocket expenses. The Skyactiv 2,3,6, CXs also share a lot of common parts. This eases supply inventory, availability & cost.
The aftermarket support is also vibrant. In my 5years of Sky ownership, I've been able to source consumables like pads, filters, & mods thru online & local channels. The prices are not much different from mainstream badges like Toyota & Honda.
Overall, Mazda reliability & quality have also been raised notches higher from when they were still cuffed by Ford. The worries ingrained from that era are more a busted myth now.
Mazda ownership here has been fun, pleasant, trouble-free & generally inexpensive, so far. Locally, Bermaz has done a great job in serving those who dared look beyond owning the more common nippon brands.
So, be concerned not....most of us here have....

Does the cabin filter and air filter of the cx5 diesel the same as the gas models? I'm thinking of outsourcing as early as now. My 3 yrs yojin will be up in a few months time.

The petrol & diesel drop-in filters aren't identical. Cross reference the corresponding models here:

The cabin filter for the KF regardless of engine variant should be the same.

Hook in a Bluetooth OBD + Torque app or something like a Scangauge. Or AIO tweak your MazdaConnect. Do you already have a CTEK CT5 Start Stop batt conditioner, sir?

The only complaint I've heard from my sister is that she finds those large rear pillars annoying, making it difficult to see the sides of the rear. Compared to the Subaru Forester and the 1st gen CRV, the CX-5 is more prone to blind spots. Other than those issues, she's ok with the CX-5.

Meron pero isa din yun sa ayaw ng sister ko. She still prefers a good window view of the rear over thick pillars and noisy blind spot sensors [emoji12]
