The 3rd gen CR-V is much better... much better transmission, better engine tuning. Our 2.4 still does 5-7 in traffic... but what do you expect? It's a fricking 2.4. The 2.5 CX7 is a match for our car and the 2.4 RAV4 in terms of fuel economy. It's a "guzzler" only if you compare it to a compact 1.6...

But seeing the CX5, I understand why they dropped the CX7. The CX5 has similar interior space and trunk space yet is smaller... much more efficient packaging than the CX7.
I had the 2nd Gen CR-V for 5 years and thought the consumption was high but pretty normal for a CUV. But doing research and now driving a CX-5, I can say that the 2nd Gen CRV is the most 'expensive' ride I've ever had!
