this morning i was able to test drive both CX5 a/t and the just released 2.4 CRV in Alabang area.
just my observations;
- CX5 much bigger than i thought in the flesh.
- precise handling, steering feel, just the right weight.
- better road manners (suspension, handling, NVH than my '08 2.0 CRV.
- adequate power from stand still than my CRV, though not able to try above 50kph.
- good high driving position.
- rear passenger space almost same as new CRV (bit smaller).
- front/rear passenger comfort, suspension wise, IMO CRV is better.
BTW, before the test drive, i asked my SA to check the tire pressure, true enough
all are 40+ psi, that maybe the reason for the previous comment na "matagtag".
- medyo bitin ako sa lamig, esp when i sit at the back compared to new CRV,
o baka mali lang setting nmin (any feedback?)
FEATURES
- cruise control
- dual zone a/c control
- TCS, DSC, TPMS (tire pressure...)
- power folding side view mirrors
- side turning lamps
- tonneau cover
- fabric seats only
- manual ht adjust
- no camera/sensor

All along I thought the CX-5 was replacing the CX-7 in the Phl only. Turns out it's being done in other markets too: 2013 Mazda CX-5 - Consumer Guide Automotive
So what was the score with the CX-7? Did it have too many shortcomings that Mazda decided to come up with something totally different rather than try to upgrade an existing line?

first it's a gas guzzler, car manufacturer's thrust is to come up with fuel efficient vehicles, US gov't has a law that requires car manufacturers to offer vehicle that has a 40mpg by year 20--? Kya eto na ung mga HYBRID & EV.
Mazda has no plan of developing hybrid & EV (maybe for now) because of their SIZE, remember FORD already pull out its stake with the company.
Now comes the SKYACTIVE technology which will be the new face of all new mazda vehicle, this technology compose of new design in ENGINE, TRANSMISSION & CHASSIS/BODY. It's impossible to just incorporate this to the CX7 as an upgrade, hence the CX5 was born.
Sorry medyo haba ng reply ko sir
