August 11th, 2009 03:39 PM #1Hi to all mazda enthusiast... i am very happy that i found this site so i can ask for useful tips and advice in buying my first car.. nag post din ako sa toyota talk and the response is very positive.. this is my scenario. i will buy a car next month from a salary loan, i am not a well off person, currently working in a call center at nakita ko lang talaga yun need na magkaroon ng sarili kong car sa delikadong panahon ngayon.. my original plan is to get a toyota big body pero meron ako officemate na nagbebenta ng mazda 323 1997 ito yung malapad yun likod. i think first generation yata siya, but i am not sure.. now i have several question about this unit..
1. my officemate is selling it for 85k, (mazda 323 1997) is it worth it? 100k + + ang mileage. is this a good buy?
2. nakita ko na yun car at na test drive at mukha naman ok. cool aircon and smooth pa naman ang takbo.. sobrang mahal ba at mahirap ba hanapin ang mga parts ng mazda if i have to replace?
3. gagamitin ko lang for a 10k ride everyday (balikan na) muntinlupa to alabang then pauwi. kaya n ba nito ang 1 liter for a 10 km ride.
4.how reliable ba ang mga old mazda? engine, aircon? i know car parts are wear and tear, but matagal b ulit bago ako mag palit ng mga parts.
5. is this ok for a first car.. kasi the price is a good fit for my budget..
thanks in advance sa mga magrereply and who will offer their help sa mga question ko i know mazda is also a good car and as competitive and famous as other japanese cars.. thanks ulit..

my questions:
- kamusta ang condition ng body?
- kamusta ang pangilalim?
- kamusta ang electronics?
- wala bang tagas sa ilalim? maski ano like tubig, langis, etc.
- kamusta ang electricals and interiors?
wala naman akong masasabi sa familia, except that medyo malakas sya sa gas. spare parts are ok, madaming makukuha and reasonable ang price.
normally ang sakit nyan is yung rear fender. nabubulok and kinakalawang.

natanong mo ba kung ano yung mga dapat nang palitan na parts? that is a 12 year old car, i'm sure marami kang papalitan.

I am not sure if you are referring Familia by "malapad na likod"
Matibay ang Mazda, smooth ang engine and ok yun aircon. Not familiar with the gas consumption kasi by nature, malakas talaga ako pumetiks hehehe...
Just make sure na pag binili mo, change oil agad, palit ng mga fluids pati na din yun mga belts, and if possible, dalhin mo sa cruven para ma reload yun mga shocks, in that way, wala kang sakit ng ulo agad...
Proper maintenance lang yan, ayos yan

Sir parang sinabi mo na you need deep pockets

Goodluck!

He might be referring to a 97 323 BG, pero still murang mura yan for the given price.
Makakamura ka kung bumili ka from Kia na original parts but you have to know which parts are compatible. From my experience, nagpalit ako ng timing belt, tensioner bearing and oil seals, puro OEM kia lahat.
Regards sa fuel efficiency niya, on city driving I can only get a max of 9km/liter, worst is around 7.5 especially on heavy gapang 1st gear traffic(on a 1.3 carbureted engine). Ibang usapan na pagdating sa highway driving. Naglalaro ako sa 13 sa highway.
Ako I considered mine as a good buy (mas mahal ko pa nga nakuha yung sa akin, almost 20k difference).

1. my officemate is selling it for 85k, (mazda 323 1997) is it worth it? 100k + + ang mileage. is this a good buy?
yup.
2. nakita ko na yun car at na test drive at mukha naman ok. cool aircon and smooth pa naman ang takbo.. sobrang mahal ba at mahirap ba hanapin ang mga parts ng mazda if i have to replace?
di naman po. kahit collision parts meron. surplus and sometimes new.
3. gagamitin ko lang for a 10k ride everyday (balikan na) muntinlupa to alabang then pauwi. kaya n ba nito ang 1 liter for a 10 km ride.
medyo gas hungry ang mga mazda 323. good driving habits and well tuned car will make your FC good din.
4.how reliable ba ang mga old mazda? engine, aircon? i know car parts are wear and tear, but matagal b ulit bago ako mag palit ng mga parts.
ok naman for it's class. unless me sira na yung engine, aircon and cooling/fuel system then ok pa rin yan. like any 2nd hand car consider replacing the shocks and suspension parts, belts, air intake, tires.
5. is this ok for a first car.. kasi the price is a good fit for my budget..
kinda. cheap base price mo para ma upgrade at maintain mo pa. A similar toyota or honda will call for a 2x to 3x. At halos same lang ang condition (even worst sometimes)
And most of all, test drive mo.
Good luck
Ford kasi... it needs a lot of TLC. ;) Kidding aside, I don't know if other turbo vehicles have...
