I think youtube vid reviews such as these ones can give a better opinion on the Mazda3:

Hi! New here and I will be getting my M3 on June.

Quick question: If I ask the dealership not to drill the license plate holder on the grill, can they manage to place it onto the lower part?

    Thanks!

Do you find that the Mazda 3 is very low to the ground, especially the underside of the front grille?

On really steep humps and holes, I always have a hard time with those. There are lots of scratches on the underside of the front grill already. I can't really see them looking at the vehicle from a regular view, but it hurts when I really check and notice the underside.

    Any advice?

You'll eventually learn to angle your approach to speed bumps & steep ramps....Or you can subtly upsize w/o making it look off....Going 19s w/ 225/40 can add some clearance...like this here....

That option might be too expensive. Hahaha. I previously drove a Vios, Almera, and Mirage and didn't have those problems with the underside. Everytime I hear that screech sound, it kills me a bit inside. But it really is lowered compared to other sedans in the same class? Do you just angle to the side when you face a steep hump or ramp?

I've had lower cars, so my senses have been "calibrated". I often take RoRoadtrips & would always check the hi/lo tide skeds to anticipate & avoid high RoRo ramp angles.
Note that the 3 has decent ground clearance but a longer front overhang from the front tires. I haven't measured, but the Civic could be lower w/ even longer overhang.

Actually that does make sense. That's what I think is causing it. The lower front overhang since the M3 has a longer body than those sedans I've driven previously. Hay. I don't see it but it still hurts knowing those scrapes to the paint are already there, barely theee months in. Haha.

Ace & True Value got em. Clean the area to be protected before sticking. I use that as hobo anti-scuff protection on door sills

On the way home, I was actually thinking about some sort of plastic coating or trim to protect the underside. Haha. Thank you! I'll check it out. Most likely, I guess I'll just be more careful for the next time and remind myself, 'out of sight, out of mind'.

    Not a 2017...but

I just put a sacrifice barrier...made of fiberglass that's easy to repair/replace....and this was with my coilovers still installled (-2.5inch drop). What's important was having stiffer shocks + springs... so that on the rebound it doesn't / won't go too low...

Are these bodykits readily available for Mazda 3's? Or do you have to have them custom made?

This 3-piece front splitter was a rarity when I first got them. But nowadays they're pretty common. I recall Clifford's got a one-piece one.... (didn't want that one since it's not as flexible)

Is there anywhere I can check them out online and purchase here in the Philippines? Would you happen to have any links? I was always curious what body kits I could place to my M3.

Rhino lip was derived from a popular DIY mod using garage door weatherstrip from home improvement shops. To keep it on, you might have to drill & screw....a different type of scarring.
The speed lip reduces ground clearance. Every mm counts.... The pain source might just be transmitted from bumper to lip.[emoji4]

It's a sacrificial lamb. Haha. But I'm not sure if I'm willing to drill and screw, and it's even more restrictive due to shipping since I'm here in Cebu. Oh well. I might just have to live with these scratches and be more careful next time.
