but the bottom line is, you-the-user have every right to compare them even if they do not belong to the "same category", whatever that is.
why limit yourself to one category if you are not happy with the choices there?
i say, go compare! cross categories until you find what you really like! after all, you are the guy with the money..
no car is perfect.. you just have to ask yourself, if you are willing to live with the shortcomings...
I agree, i did my rounds as well and at the end it was between the Mz3 and the City, heck! I even threw in the TOTL Selphy just because of the minimal price difference vis a vie the amenities. If thats not cross categories i dont know what is?! Lol. My criteria is of course personalized, 1st is if the style appeals to me, cabin size & use, fuel efficiency and prize.

thanks for the reply and believe me I also completely agree with your post. But sorry if there's confusion, di ko ata natanong properly. I just wanted to know why the 3 & City are different in categories when they're both 1.5L engines. Is it the length or wheelbase etc?

Because the City is a subcompact nameplate while the 3 is a compact nameplate.

Even if they overlap in size or engine displacement, these cars were still designed to compete in different categories.

In general, the most noticeable difference for me of compacts vs subcompact is the fit and finish of interior trim, as well as ride quality.

In the case of the 3 and City, itsura palang mas cheap na talaga tingnan City.

    Busina naman baka may masagasaan

We (well my wife) test-drove the City, Jazz, Sylphy and 3. Altis sana pero di na kami umabot don because she fell hard for the 3 that she hated with a passion before. Price was the main consideration kasi magkalapit lang sila. Length was another factor dahil limited ang garage space. What clinched it for her were the looks and the comfort. It will be used mostly for city driving naman so the 1.5 will be enough. Besides that AT downshifts at the slightest press of the gas so pwede na rin.

Might be getting our unit tomorrow or Saturday. Insurance na lang kulang

if given the premise that car classification is according to engine size, then that would also classify the Fiesta as also a compact, which is not. I think curb weight and overall interior space in cubic feet has some factor in classification too.

Sa US if based on interior space:

Everything That's Ridiculous About The EPA's Vehicle Classes In Pictures

Sa atin ata curb weight and engine displacement ang factors based on the LTO's registration prices.

Ok naman itsura ng City, it's a decent-looking subcompact. IMO it looks classier than an Accent/Vios/Almera.

But its design just isn't as upscale-looking as a 3/Altis/Sylphy or even its much maligned big brother, the Civic. The Civic still has the advantage of length and girth, and its understated design will most likely age better in 10 years than the City.

    Hehe OT na

Also one of the things thats making me gravitate na rin sa City is the upcoming everest. Lol. I know ang layo but to my mind kasi i need to pay up this sedan as early as possible so that i can get the new everest in a years time or so. City of course is much cheaper so i can terminate the loan earlier. Pampasira din tong new everest kasi. The thing is buying not what you thought was the best is like waking up next to a person you married for the wrong reasons. Lol!

Not a fan of aftermarket-looking rims but the P45 would fit nicely with the 3.

Possible kaya ma mount yung plate sa side? It kind of spoils the Mz3 looks kung sa grills.

If you have property damage policy then it's covered.

just saw a video review on Youtube saying the MZD Connect can be quite distracting at night because it's too bright. Is this true or you get used to it? And can you adjust the brightness?
