I think global demand din is one big reason why we're not getting so many variants, let alone a huge allocation from the factory. It was mentioned in one of the press releases of Berjaya.

That is awful FC. Hopefully it improves.

Or else, Mazda once again committed the mistake of placing an underpowered engine to a heavy car, with the 2-liter variant getting better FC.

Thanks for the update bro, keep us in the loop.

The 1.5 version is not a mistake. Its designed for alot less traffic. unfortunately owners will regret buying this for bumper to bumper routes. This Mazda3 1.5 has been reviewed before and it can't match the Mazda3 2.0 or the Corolla 1.6 CVT in terms of fuel consumption.

Can you please post this review that you are talking about?

not mazda3 2.0 ...nissan sylphy 1.6cvt pala. They reviewed the sylphy1.6cvt too in another article and it does match the corolla 1.6cvt in fuel thirst.

Just curious what condition it was tested in based on your link. City or Mixed? Also, if you check the comment of the page, a user is pointing the disparity of their review in that link against a previous review of the two vehicles mentioned.

    Road Test - Mazda3 Sedan 1.5 Deluxe (A)

In that link, they explained that achieving 11.9km/l was done with a heavy right foot. Altis as they tested for the 1.6CVT was 11.5km/l (not stated though whether it was heavy right foot).

As for the Sylphy 1.6CVT, the only excerpt I can find stating FC is the following in their comparo with the Elantra vs Sylphy "Driven economically, both sedans will fare well, with the Sylphy bringing home close to 14km/L and the Elantra managing 13km/L. "

Sp the Sylphy achieved 14km/l driven economically, Mazda 3 11.9km/l with a heavy right foot, Altis 1.6CVT has 2 figures 11.5km/l (in its standalone review) and 14km/l in the comparo with the 3. So there appears to be something missing in the review.

    My two cents.

Common sense. Similar engine displacement, similar transmission type, what did they expect?

I am curious where the actual information is from comparing the Coralla 1.6CVT city vs the Mazda 3 1.5AT FC city?

    MAZDA 3 / Axela Hatchback 1.5 SKYACTIV-G 6MT (100 HP) - 2013, 2014

The above is the only reference I found that has a Mazda 3 with 1.5 Skyactiv G similar to our market (although the power figures seem lower than ours) that tests the FC.

I can't find a comparo with the Altis 1.6CVT on the same sites though

Plus the advantage of the Mazda 3 2.0 is highway right? But if it doesn't have the i-eloop/i-start system, then it can barely keep up with City FC of the 1.5 right?

How do you say that bringing in the 1.5 is not a mistake, when in the same paragraph you say that it was designed for a lot less traffic? Hindi nila alam na ma-traffic sa Manila?

That's like bringing a winter coat (even a nice winter coat) to a tropical country.

That's a good FC already considering his route. Traffic in that route is heavy. A larger engine's efficiency will be more noticeable on highway runs.

Perhaps Spencer can share his avg. speed (from MID reading) so we can validate. If it's anything over 15 kph with only 7.5 km/L then that's still awful.

i agree with you my FC is quite ok and compared to other cars that ive driven of the same segment plus the big factor for me is its driving comfort and the quietness of Mazda 3 like what ive said im quite confident that my FC would continue to improve.

it seems that Skyactiv is not that much better than MZR in City Driving afterall

sa 100% highway, meron na bang nakakuha ng figures?
i think dito lalabas yung edge nung bagong 3.. new engine + 6 speed transmission + lighter body + lower drag coefficient

    FC as of 5/18/2014
    Mazda 3 2.0L Hatch
    Odometer: 500 km
Traffic condition: Purely city; mostly bumper to bumper
    Ave. speed: 14 kph
    i-Stop: Occasional use
    Result: 8.1 Km/L

I'll post my FC for purely highway maybe 2 weeks from now. HTH!

    WOW 8.1 km/L on a 14 kph average!
    That's basically rush hour traffic.

Looks like the 2.0 is as efficient (if not more) than the 1.5 and other small-displacement engines.

This makes me drool over the 2.0 Mz3 even more...

Factory horn sounds good enough, better than other cars. You might try reverse camera if you can find one.

Just picked up my 2014 M3 1.5 sedan today. May ilang questions lang po ako mga tsikoteers.
First car kasi eh, and sanay sa manual.

    1. Do I put the gear in Neutral at long stop lights (with handbrake?) Or should I leave it in Drive? Umaangat kasi unahan ko kapag nakahandbrake tapos Drive. I'm thinking masisira handbrake (and transmission).

    2. Nasaan ang trunk release button (interior) ng M3 1.5?? Dun sa manual merong pipinduting button eh, I'm not sure sa 2.0, pero dun sa unit ko wala ata (wala nung trunk release na drawing kung asan dapat siya). Tinry ko buksan from loob using the remote, hindi umangat 'yung trunk eh.

    3. Kapag nilock 'yung kotse from loob while the engine is running, hindi ko maunlock 'yung kotse using the remote.

Did you check your user manual? On the US versions the trunk release is above the hood release.
