Masochista yang nag suggest ng Tuba-Asin Road! That was a workout for both car and driver! First time ko narinig kumayod ang rear tires sa fender! It was fun though. Katuwa yung mga Spanish-era tunnels. It's newly-asphalted din all the way to Neverland.

QR checkpoint is at the TPLEX exit. Sa triage tinanggap naman nila LGU vax cards and didn't have to show them the Vaxcert printouts.

It's raining here now. Idlip muna then explore later.

Thanks sir. You mentioned QR checkpoint. So they need vaccine card to have QR code? Sadly Las Piñas vaccine card doesn't have QR code. We really need talaga to go to vaccine site again to have my families record transmit to DOH.

Driving tidbits from our Baguio trip last long weekend.

Going to Baguio

- Left Sta Rosa, Laguna before 5:30 AM, arrived Baguio 2 PM! (includes a 1 hour stop at PTT SCTEX)

- NLEX RFID tollgates are a scam. Balintawak TP probably 20-car long queue per lane. SCTEX TP more than 1km long queue. No advance signage telling motorists which lanes are RFID and which are cash.

- Never gumana yung autosweep sticker ko with dual easytrip account (which works seamlessly in CALAX). To be fair, mas madali yung failsafe system nila na kailangan lang i-tap yung easytrip card sa reader, unlike sa SLEX na kailangan i-scan ng teller yung QR code on the autosweep card.

- Service stations along NLEX were JAMPACKED. Vehicle queue spilled over to the expressway lanes.

- Exited at TPLEX Rosario, may checkpoint to check your destination before the rotunda.

- Marcos / Aspiras Highway road condition is not good, maingay sa gulong... takatak sound between slabs. Rehab ongoing on lots of sections, expect stop-and-go traffic.

- Final 2km queue sa Baguio border took an hour or more sa uphill section approaching Kia Baguio. RIP sa mga naka manual transmission.

Leaving Baguio

- Kennon Road condition is excellent (way better than Marcos Hwy) except for 1 bridge under construction.

- Avoided TPLEX Rosario TP traffic by exiting Kennon at the Bued River Bypass. Then entered TPLEX at Sison.

- Avoided ~1 hr traffic mess at SCTEX/NLEX junction by exiting at Concepcion, passing via Magalang/Arayat then re-entering NLEX at Mexico. Light Sunday provincial traffic with the usual trikes and 2-wheels. No way of telling if mas mabilis talaga, pero at least hindi sea of red brake lights ang view.

- Surprisingly, after Angeles, traffic was smooth-flowing na even though volume became heavier while nearing NCR.

- Halos di ako dumaan sa innermost lane ng NLEX, it's just marginally faster than the rest of the lanes. Tapos grabe maka-tailgate mga tao, risk of a multiple collision was just too high.

- Seems NLEX management has eliminated dangerous overtaking on the shoulder (especially sa Sta Rita to San Fernando segment) by putting orange cones on the WHOLE length of the expressway.

- Left Baguio at 2:15 PM, arrived Sta Rosa Laguna at 9 PM, including 2 rest breaks.

There are some roadworks along Tuba-Asin pero few and far between. There are also some linemen putting up fiber cables.

Hirap ng Baguio during long weekends and peak seasons, very different experience vs going on weekdays. No lines on toll gates, gas station, restaurants, and checkpoints.

Ang hindi lang nawawala is the slow moving traffic up Marcos [emoji30]

Thanks bro. It’s good to have a combo of sedan and SUV. My sedan is much much much more fun to drive than my SUV, though there are places that it makes more sense to bring the SUV.

3 weeks ago I went to Bicol, my sedan would’ve been so bugbog with the trip. But with an SUV sakto lang. For fun roads like Baguio with long highways and paved mountain roads, sedan is the better weapon of choice.

Yes, tiring pero enjoy naman ang mga chikiting sa Baguio. It was my first time driving up Marcos Hwy actually, lagi kami Kennon in the past. We decided last minute to use Marcos Hwy after seeing the huge traffic jam on the Kennon Road triage checkpoint. Next time I'll stick to Kennon though... no trikes, trucks, buses and way better view.

After the triage traffic, the traffic inside the city was surprisingly relatively light considering na long weekend sya. Imagine long weekend pero there were vacant on-street parking on Session Road.

Hassle lang magregister sa Visita pero mabilis lang naman ma-approve ng hotel.

Inside CJH yes. Outskirts also have clean air. Downtown is pungent diesel smoke.

74-75 for gas, 62 for diesel. Not too far from Manila prices anymore unlike before with 10-12 pesos gap.
