18", no... unless you want rubber bands for tires.... You'll have four bengkongs within the first week.
17" fits, but it depends on the width and offset of the rims. With a lowered car, you may have to adjust the camber and roll the fenders to make them fit properly.

It will really depend on the offset of the rim you're buying. If the offset is too small, the wheel will stick out and you will require camber adjustment.

I agree with Niky. Make sure the rims you get have the same offset (or at least, very close) required for your car; doing so you'll most likely be able to get the 17s with 1.5 drop and 205/45 tires to avoid any inconvience like tire rubbing and all.
Not familiar with the SIR, but 38-42 is a safe bet. Try to get rims that aren't more than 7" wide. Maybe the Honda boys on the board will know.

+40 and higher offset is usually a good fit for any EK-body Civic such as the SiR. If you want a truly idiot-proof offset go for +45.
Do not neglect to look at your wheel width as well as your offset. If the offset is correct but the wheel is too wide you can still rub. (Conversely narrow-width wheels have a little more leeway with offset - you can run a little less offset without rubbing, e.g. 15x6.5 +38.) You should stay away from wheels wider than 7.5"
For daily driving 15" wheels are actually best for an EK Civic. 16" wheels are okay too. 17" wheels are pushing it already - tires are expensive, wheels are heavy and harshness is an issue at that size.

i agree with type 100. 15s-16s are already good for SiR. but 17s is way off.
putting 17s on SiR is like putting 19s on an FD.
