some of the gen1 sportages here have those clear head/tail lights. i'll try to ask a friend mechanic, specializing in 1st gen sportages about the compatibility.

I already had my transmission checked and thank goodness there's nothing wrong. The mechanic at Lucas AT just did an ATF change, inspected the pan and made some adjustments and viola I got most of my torque back.

Thanks for the tip about good gear

I'm still having trouble trying to figure out how to get an accurate milage though. Sorry for the noob question, but with my trip meter / odometer busted how does one calculate for milage? I only make an estimate that whenever my gauge reaches the red line, I refill with 500 (about 9 liters) and it always goes to the next line. Now just following google maps, my best estimate is I'm spending 9 liters every 50 km. But thats only a very rough estimate, can you guys share a more effective way of measuring?

Btw I have another question for you or other gen 1 owners out there. Would you know if its possible to fit a 98 Sportage headlight assembly on a 97? Looking at the photos and comparing them both it seems to have the same screw holes.

    1998-2001

I'm dying to change my headlights and could not find a clear lens to get projectors fitted in. if I can get away with a new clear (non fluted) 98-2001 headlight I'll be a happy camper.

Any input will be very helpful thanks guys!
the clear headlights are drop fit. they cost 6k here in zamboanga, baka mas cheaper sa goodgear pasay/banawe.

Kung gasoline ang sportage, check first the fuel filter and replace if needed..

    Hope this helps....rgds

    I just bought a 96 AT 2.0 unit.

Hope I can see this forum relived and revived.

May I see some mods you made to your units? I got mine as a project car and need some ideas on the exteriors, as well as some interior options.

    TIA!

Hello We have 1994 Kia Sportage 2.0 Diesel non turbo 4x4 (switchable to 4x2)

    thanks

eto yata yung idle adjustment if during cold start. usually morning start.. kung silipin mo connection nyan, meron syang adjustment cable na pag inikot, nag aadvance yung accelerator cable mo, kaya pag start, taas yung rpm..

    sorry for 4x4, no idea.

Wow. this will be a 143K life lesson that you just bought. And it is still going to cost you more. Ano na ho ba ngyare sa 18k overhaul? and besides yung tulo ano pa ba ang issue nya? ano ba condition, tumatakbo ba or what? Its never to late to learn, lahat naman nag sisimula sa wala sir.

    1. I suggest get an honest diagnosis from one or more mechanics, research ka dito kung san ung trusted or positive reviews.
    2. Pag may idea ka na kung anong sira, ask for labor and parts cost
    3. You need to weigh kung worth it pa ba yan ituloy.
    4. Get actual help from your friends/relatives

Kaya ko na mention ung #3 kasi me tropa ako may lancer singkit dahil sa 'sentimental' value e sige lang ang pagawa ng kung ano anong sira ng auto nya, in the end spending money many times the actual amount of the vehicle. naka 100K mahigit sya for a car na 50k or so nalang ang value. You need to decide if you are willing to go that route if in case marami pang pagawain yan.

    Good luck boss.

according to olx, 143K is in the ball park.
err.. what exactly, are wrong with your 20-year old car, po? did you take it for a test drive before buying it?
may tumulo na... whazzat mean, sir? for all i know, all it needed was a gasket replacement, not a top overhaul... is that mechanic of yours on the up-and-up? maybe he's the one taking you for a ride and not the seller...?
    questions... questions...

For a 96 car. 143k is pretty high imo.

Not a sportage owner, but the best thing to do is to bring it to a true mechanic (not siraniko) and have him assess everything about your car.

PS: gas station mechanics is a good way to start if you dont know any mechanic at all.

You can try to seek compensation from the seller. Negotiate for a return at a discount. At least may konti kay recovery kaysa total loss un P143K mo. Bring a lawyer na rin.

Baka naman yun Mekaniko ang nangloloko sa kanya and not yun seller

I mean dapat due diligence in buying second hand vehicles. Caveat emptor

Return or refund? ... I doubt that. The previous owner was not that "honest" with you on the exact condition of the car you were buying

    Repair? ... That's what I call a money pit.

Re-sell? ... Better option, and be honest with the next buyer. Do not expect to get your 143K back, nor the money you spent on fixing the vehicle.

    Charge that to experience.
