"Columbian Autocar Corporation, the official distributor of Kia in the Philippines, has just launched their newest compact, the all-new Forte. Kia PH will be bringing in three body styles for the Forte: The 4-door sedan, 5-door hatchback and the Koup, the 2-door version of the Forte.

“The three Forte variants relate to different markets but at the end of the day, they all carry the renowned Kia name and with it is a guarantee of refreshing interiors, compelling styles, and powerful road performance. The all-new Forte truly exudes a dynamic presence on the road and we can’t wait for everyone to try a different driving experience aboard any of the three Forte variants.” said Ginia R. Domingo, president of Columbian Autocar Corporation.

The all-new Forte lineup starts with the sedan. It features Kia's latest technology for electronic power steering systems. Called the FlexSteer system, the Forte's electronic power steering can be adjusted in three modes. Those who will drive the car can choose between Comfort, Normal and Sport, each with varying degrees of steering assistance. The FlexSteer system is also available on the rest of the Forte line-up The Forte sedan is powered by a 1.6 liter Gamma engine which puts out 130 PS and 157 Nm of torque.

For the 5-door hatchback, Kia says it is best suited for those with “a lifestyle that demands action and function.” thanks to its hatchback practicality and styling. The hatchback gets more features and an upgraded interior which is trimmed in leather. The Forte hatchback also gets an infotainment system with advanced multimedia capabilities. The hatchback also gets a more powerful 2.0 liter NU engine which produces 161 PS and 194 Nm of torque.

Rounding up the all-new Forte lineup is the Koup. Apart from sporting two doors, the Koup gets distinct styling treatments which includes a more rakish rear windshield, frameless doors and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the Forte Koup gets dual zone full auto climate control and a state-of-the-art entertainment panel with rear view camera. Like the hatchback, the Forte Koup is powered by the 2.0 liter NU engine with 161 PS and 194 Nm of torque.

Prices for the all-new Kia Forte are as follows:

Kia Forte 1.6 EX 6-A/T sedan: PHP 965,000

Kia Forte 2.0 SX 6-A/T hatchback: PHP 1,190,000

Kia Forte Koup 2.0 EX 6-A/T: PHP 1,090,000"

1.2M for a Kia hatch? Good luck. People would rather buy a Toyota Corolla or Mazda3 or even a Honda HR-V.

Ok naman products ng Kia, sa perception lang ng mga pinoy is overpriced sya.
IIRC last year ata nagbigay sila ng very big discounts sa Carens (as high as 250K ata) at significantly tumaas ang demand at the price of a few who bought it at the undiscounted price.
Nakakamiss nung nasa Php 300K+ pa lang ang Picanto when all subcompacts are hovering Php 400-500K already.

Same price lang naman yung Forte sa Elantra ah. Cheaper pa nga eh.

Yung 1.8 na Elantra 1.258M. Though of course wala nang benta Elantra ngayon, less than 200 units sold in 2015.

Personally, I think the pricing is okay. It's just that Kia is at a point wherein some people already see it as par with Hyundai/Ford/Mazda/etc, while others still see it as an inferior brand.

Pricing of the 1.6 at 965k is at par with the Mz3 1.5, and lower than the Altis 1.6V, Elantra 1.6S, and Civic 1.8E. If the feature set is good, then this is a viable alternative to the Elantra which is getting old and has shoddy aftersales.

The Forte Koup is a unique proposition. It's a 2-door that looks much better than its predecessor, so it can actually work for bachelors who're after a standout car without having to shell out over 1.5M for a Miata/86/GC/WRX.

The TOTL hatch is the variant which doesn't make much sense, since noone really wants a high-end Kia yet. But I still think it's a more sensible option than a TOTL Elantra or Cruze.

I was checking carguide's pricelist last March when the Forte was still being sold, and the 1.6 LX was listed as 838k. Kung sa price point palang na yun di na naentice mga tao what more pa ngayon na 965k na base?

Well malayo naman yung itsura nung old Forte sa ngayon. This one looks even sleeker than the Elantra. And kit level is better (I would assume).

But it still doesn't answer the main problem, which is Kia's brand equity. The Sportage and Sorento seem to sell well though, selling close to their Hyundai counterparts, with the Sportage even outselling the RAV4 (the only Toyota that isn't the class leader in sales).

I totally agree with you sir. The sedan 965k is priced competitively and also the Koup with 1.090M price. Pero the question is still the brand and after sales and parts availability outside of casa.

Loko yung sales agent ng Kia Metro East. One month ago I visited to check pricing and have a look at the Forte if there is a display. The SA told me phased out na raw yung model!? The Sedan would have been a nice alternative.

The SA said phased out. Ang intindi ko is "discontinued." Wala rin akong nakita article sa net na nagsasabi na inia update yung model. Or maybe I did not search hard enough. I would have waited if I knew na naga update.
