just noticed that about around after my 2012 rio a/t hit 2km, there was a marked change in the way it responded to driving situations:
eg: city driving before, the instant on board fc would move from 4 km/l during acceleration and go down to only about 7 to 9 km/l until stop... but now I noticed this going down to even around 35km/l (free wheeling) and normalizing to about 14km/l during constant speed (if this holds true, it would approximate t my previous 1.3 vios manual's fc)...

average onboard fc yesterday was a pleasant 12km/l Lucena to Makati back and forth... of mixed Hi way and stop and go Provincial roads dotted with slow moving trucks and tricycles ... rio loaded with 5 persons and a harvest of fresh buko in the trunk : )...

masisira ulo nyo kaka-monitor nyan pati odomoter eh tinitignan nyo.

simple lang to calculate your personalized consumption. 2-3 full tanks. for every full tank, reset trip meter.
compute FC by dividing total liters filled in full tank by total kilometers consumed on empty. compare data on 2-3 refills. in algebra FC is km/liter = total KM (on yellow light) / total liters filled on full tank.

in my case my kilometer consumed per full tank is 550 - 560 liters, and my average full tank on yellow light is between 67 to 69 liters of diesel. so yun sta fe ko 8.xx km/liter. yan ang daily ko pero noon tumakbo ako ng manaoag, that's 250km per way so almost 500km, and I consumed only less than half full tank, so I know my SF can be thrifty at double, so 16km+/liter on pure highway drive. our Ford Explorer EB on a Baguio run averaged 11km/liter, pero dito sa Manila it only averages 4km/liter. imagine the big drop on city driving. ganyan talaga gasolina lalo na pag dami idle stops. and mini-cars aren't an excuse. kaya nga mas gusto ko diesel eh

yan ang pinaka-accurate and personalized pa sa daily route and driving habits nyo.

those onboard trip computers are useless.

yun out of town driving, that's particularly useful only to determine kung ano talaga ang claim ng CASA sa fC, pero talagang ibang ang Manila driving. kahit si Einstein pa mag-compute nyan, hindi sya makaka-come-up ng equation, maliban na lang kung may averaging sya kung ilan pedestrian at ilan jeep ang biglang hihinto sa harap nyo. eh pano pa yun nagbebenta ng sampaguita at tubig sa kalye. and what about the average swervings you make due to stupid driver.

salamat sir .. wag naman po sana masisira ang ulo ko... salamat po sa pag papaalala kung paano magcompute, pareho po pala tayo ng alam, check ko din po ... the whole point of my post is to note real time observation of present measurements as reflected in the on board comp as against what i observed in the past... realtime feedbacks which could be validated by using the "full tank" method of computing fc...

on the subject of Einstein's equation.. dyan po talagang masisira na ulo ko dyan but i think it's possible to compute the consumption if they have an accurate sensor for measuring the amount of fuel burned through the system (eg. fuel injection, valves etc.. not really a techy in that) vs. the distance travelled (odomoter)....

agree with Manila driving.. iba talaga... mas mabilis yan compared po dito sa amin na halos every 30m ay kanto na ulit.. average speed would be less than 20kph on a daily basis...

    again.. thanks for insights!

    HB unit ko..

drove it this weekend going to balayan batangas
All units are from trip com
    - 6.7l/100km
    - travelled 128 kms.
    - avg sped was 43kms
    Eco off
    Mostly highway driving

When i got home here in manila, avg fc was 7.4l/100, with traffic at tagatay. Forgot to check other readings

been monitoring this forum since the thread started. I agree with pop3corn. you don't need to check your odor to compute fc. but so far said mga post Hindi completely empty young Rio hung nag full tank. the rio's tank should be 42 or 45 I think, tapos name loload is just 32 to 35L so you still have about 10L. I've maximised my 1998 2.0L RAV4 4x4 5dr and I achieve 6.5km/l city. I am thinking to go for Kia Rio. but if that's the Fc parang nakakatakot. my full tank is usually 55 to 56 L. my tank capacity is 58L, 2L short of the 2006 to current RAV4. oh btw to ask, in the previous pages it was noted that the Rio uses more fuel in stop, I want to know is if it is D mode while stopped or in N mode?
