Available in 2WD(1.7M) at 4WD(1.8M Pesos) variant ang Sorento 2.4 liter rito na 7 seater...
Yung CRDI VGT R-Series eh bebenta parin yan kahit nasa 1.845M-1.945M Pesos yan...
>>grabe na, mapapa-mura ako sa kamahalan nya. haha.

Got to drive the new Kia Sorento 2.4 4WD briefly and here are some observations...
1) Has push button start which is quite convenient
>>i'd have to agree, this is one cool "nice to have, feature".
2) Has very good 2nd row leg room but no leather seats
>>nak-nam%^&&* no leather for Php1.7M.?
3) Has cruise control but no steering wheel radio controls
>>what was Kia CAC thinking?.
4) Suspension feels uncomfortably stiff for an SUV but probably helped improve handling
>>same feedback fm. AutoExpress, masyadong matigas, but not necessarily Mazda like handling prowess, eto ang weakness pa ng Korean cars....
7) There was a slight creak in one of the dashboard panels. Quite surprising for a new car
>>hhhm, that's why i normally stay-away fm. first year model cars....
8) Engine felt very powerful for a 2.4. For a moment I thought I was driving the diesel version.
>>maybe responsive is the proper term, this car has only about 51% torque of the Diesel's.
9) Looks very stylish and well proportioned on all sides
>>yup, this is one eye-candy, good job to Peter Schrayer (ex-Audi stylist right?

November 2nd, 2009 01:46 PM #284ser Feyer, agree ka ba sa sinasabi dito sa Autoexpress? di daw maganda ang noise vibration harshness control ng bagong Sorento?
how does it fare to the Hyundai Santa Fe2 (supposedly chassis sharing sila).

Kia Sorento
Fresh SUV promises to cross class boundaries.
Nip and tuck is all the Cee’d hatchback needed. But Kia has taken a more radical approach with its Sorento, in an attempt to transform it from a utilitarian 4x4 into a more luxurious SUV.
For starters, it’s now much lighter, thanks to an all-new chassis.
This combines with a more frugal 2.2-litre CRDi diesel to give lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Buyers also get the option of a 2.4-litre petrol-engined variant.
Our oil-burner was mated to a new six-speed auto box, which transferred power to all four wheels. A two-wheel-drive Sorento is also offered, but our model’s set-up worked well.
The strong powerplant makes light work of pulling the big car along from low revs.
Body control is decent, but the ride is flawed, with bumps in the road being transferred into the cabin.
As an overall package, though, the Kia looks quite tempting.
There’s plenty of space front and back, while the option of an extra pair of seats adds to the appeal.
Rival: VW Tiguan
strong badge image sets the VW apart from the Kia, and it has a higher-quality feel and better residuals.
But it can’t match the new Sorento for practicality.

November 2nd, 2009 05:06 PM #285I agree with this comment as I noticed the road bumps were being transferred directly to the steering wheel.
One more thing I forgot to mention sa Sorento I test drove recently was may kalampag somewhere sa dash. Di ko ma pinpoint where but nasa driver side at medyo obvious yung squeaking sound.
Its a very nice SUV but sayang, I will still avoid buying Kias for now as I think they are quite overpriced and under spec-ed in our market.Last edited by ryan; November 2nd, 2009 at 05:09 PM.

November 6th, 2009 06:57 PM #286I was also at first considering the Carens Diesel when it was only 900k+. But I realized that it didn't have much safety features like airbags and ABS so it wasn't a great deal after.
I wonder how much the Sorento diesel will go for when it comes here.

medyo ot din. kia forte coup priced around 1.4M vs hyundai genesis coupe base model 1.370M 2.0L TURBO. WTF is kia thinking. dapat palit na distributor nila. kia and hyundai are sister companies but i would rather have a hyundai.
