Welcome to tsikot!
is the pickup your first vehicle?
1)Check the oil levels at least every week - note if it goes down. If it's black, don't worry, diesel in the country is so dirty that the oil's already black a day after changing it
2)Regarding oil changes, diesel vehicles rarely need to us synthetic oils (once again due to diesel quality here). Mineral oils are fine, as long as you have an oil change every 5000 kilometers. Use the viscosity recommended on the manual. Generally, oil filters are also replaced during an oil change.
3)You can also opt to clean/replace your air filter if it gets dirty
4)Note if the exhaust is chugging out too much black smoke. Injector recalibration or an outright injector replacement may be due.
I'm assuming it's not a CRDi DMAX..
Then there's the usuals
-check the brakes, note the brake pad thickness
-brake fluid levels
-clutch fluid levels
-coolant levels
-power steering fluid levels
-check the belts if they'r cracked or frayed
Hmm. there's probably alot more, I'm sure someone more knowledgeable is bound to reply

The oil filter's usually already filthy after 5k kilometers
With the air filter, as I said, you can clean it (pinapagpag kung drop-type) instead of replacing it every 5k km.
You can use any oil brand as long as the viscosity's the one recommended by the manufacturer. Personally, I use Castrol CRB.

Sir, regarding sa pag linis ng Air filter, I read in the manual na i should use a chemical for cleaning air filter by soaking on it. Any ideas kung saan ako makaka bili ng chemical na ito or any substitute? or i can just use Soap solution? TIA!

??? ngayon lang ako nakaencounter ng OEM filter na chemical solution ang panglinis? usually aftermarket like K&N, Simota ang ganito dahil halos lahat ng OEM ay air element filter. ano po ba ride niyo sir?
edit:
oops mukhang mali pagkakaintindi ko. You mean to say na aftermarket na pala air filter mo right? Pag K&N may sariling oil na dapat gamitin dito hindi pwedeng basta basta linis lang. Ung oil kasi na iyon ay impt sa filtration property nito.Last edited by rst619; April 11th, 2009 at 04:58 PM.
