For sure after the 3rd year, that is what really counts since all the problems and headaches would start to appear.hehe
It happened to me the engine light thing. I still have around 25k kilometrs. Bad trip nga the thing is kung patayin mo at pahinga mo ng mga 5mins pag star mo wala na as if nothing happened.

It happened nung mataas ang rev ko tapos biglang shift biglang nag engine check at nawala na ang power parang ang laki ng singaw sounds like nag rerelease ng hangin sa gulong ganun ang tunog.

hmm ano kaya yun. will be going to the casa nxt week tatanong ko bat nag ka ganun.

With regards to that Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) or Check Engine Light, I tried reading the owner's manual on page 2-18. I am going to type it here for the reference of those who don't have their manuals anymore.

"The CHECK ENGINE indicator light is designed to indicate the need for system service. It will come on when the starter switch is in the "ON" position, but before the engine is started, to let you know the bulb is working. (The light will stay till the engine start.) Have the system repaired if the CHECK ENGINE light does not come on when the starter switch is in the "ON" position, but before the engine is started.

    MIL - Malfunction Indicator Light

This vehicle is fitted with an emission monitoring system.
The light illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly after the engine starts to run.
If the light illuminates when driving, the emission system may require servicing.
Although the vehicle may still be drivable and not requiring towing, consult the nearest Isuzu Dealer as soon as possible.
However, if the light flashes while driving, reduce speed until the light stops flashing and take the vehicle to an Isuzu Dealer as soon as possible.

    CAUTION
    - If the "CHECK ENGINE" indicator light comes on and the engine stops, turn the starter switch to the "Lock" position once, wait at least 6 seconds and proceed to start the engine.
Even if the vehicle is drivable, see your dealer asap for a service of the system.
    - If the light comes on either intermittently or continuously while driving, service is required.
Even if the vehicle is drivable and doesn't require towing, see your dealer asap for a service of the system. Continued driving without having the system serviced could cause damage to the emission control system. It could also affect fuel economy and drivability."

Perhaps sir, you do need to have your system checked already.

On MIL - I did those (bring to casa) mentioned by the book .

Eto sabi ng casa ... "e sir kailangan natin mareplicate yung problema habang nakakabit yung diagnostic gadget..." so takbo kami para mareplicate... interesting to note, the diagnostic gadget did not reflect any problem.

Iniwan ko dmax for them to review... pagbalik, they themselve don't know what it was.

On Turbo timer: I have one.... still in box sa kalat shelves ko... binili ko pa sa Thailand yun... maganda sana, it would fit dun sa place ng mga switch.... yun nga lang kinatamaran ko ng ikabit it is nearly 4 or 5 years old now.

So considering I don't even cool down after I ran the NLEX between 140-160kph, I think the dmax turbo bearings (which was suppose to be the one that the turbo timer will protect by having a cool-down) are strong enough... 5 year old dmax 160,000Km + on the odometer. Still runs 165-167kph on max-out. Pero hindi na siya kasing quick to accelerate from 120 to 140 (unlike before).

So my take on the turbo timer on a dmax - NO NEED to put one

Now, what particular review are you looking for in the 2010 Dmax Ls 4x2? Aesthetics, performance, suspension?

I've back-read a bit and I haven't noticed any 2010 model owners yet but there is bound to be a few soon .

Enjoy your stay with us here!

Oops Sorry, about the performance, durability and FC?

Wala naman po masyado nagbago sa 2010 compare to 2009 model diba?

im still undecided what to get. Hilux ba or Dmax. i read other forums that ang dami problem sa dmax like sa makina etc(like yung pagwarning light ng engine). but gusto ko interior ng dmax and hindi siya ganun kalaki unlike hilux.. but the resale value of toyota is good and wala ako masyado nababasa na pangit sa hilux beside sobrang tagtag daw.. wala po ako masyado alam sa sasakyan. hope you can enlighten me.

right now im using a toyota altis S. balak ko na magpalit dahil sa tingin ko po hindi na advisable ang kotse ngayon lalo na dito sa pinas, ang pangit na ng kalsada natin. ang mahal pa ng gas.

    Welcome to this thread, sir.

I believe not much has changed to the 2010 Dmax other than adding chromes and changing the looks of the grille. Engine department, I don't think they touched this.

Mine is 2008 4x2 LS M/T and I would like to share my insights.

Performance - It doesn't have the strongest engine in the market, 4x2 category, but it has enough kick whenever I am in a race mode and has enough pulling power even if I put a lot of heavy stuff on the bed.

Durability - Not much I could say in this category since I feel it's too early to tell. It has been with me for 1.2 years and the mileage is just above 24k so I feel it's not safe to say that it's durable and can withstand the test of time. All I could say that it has past a year and reached more than 24k kms without any problems. Let's wait after 3 years.

FC - FC isn't really my thing so I rarely notice it. Last time I checked, it was about 600 to 675 kms in one full tank. But of course, it depends on how I drive it. The lowest I got was below 500 kms in one full tank.

My neighbor has a Dmax prior to the Global Dmax and everytime we talk about our trucks, all I hear from him are praises considering that his Dmax travels from Isabela down to Mindanao from time to time.

Just follow what your heart desires, sir. Don't rush yourself. Choose the one that everytime you are looking at it and driving it, all you could see are great things instead of regrets. It's hard to drive a Dmax and everytime you see a Hilux your heart is saying "I should've bought that one" and vice versa. Whether Dmax or Hilux, they have their own share of ups and downs. And try reading in all the forums, any kind of vehicle has their own problems but still owners love them like their own children and people are still buying them despite their flaws. Both are powerful trucks and could do what they are suppose to do. Both trucks look good. In the end, pick the one that best suit you. I bought Dmax for the reason that I could see myself in it that I didn't see in other pickups. It best suit my taste. I know time will come that it would give me headaches due to numerous repairs and maintenance, but what the heck, it just looks so good inside and out!hehe

ralphjoson - Coming from a car you will find any pick-up truck stiff since your Altis are on coils and any pick-up truck in the market today are on front coils/rear leaf springs.

Right, yung bagong D-max only has minor changes, more particularly sa aesthetics of the exterior like the chrome accented fog lamps, new front grille design (also known as 'reverse-fangs'). I believe the rims have been upgraded too but practically it's still the same as the i-Teq line that came out not so long ago.

Resale value of both, in my opinion, are practically the same since Isuzu is known for its diesel engine specialization and Toyota has had the Hi-Lux line as far back as the 70's, known for its rigid chassis and durability.

A 2006 LS 4X2 still fetches 800k today depending on the condition. Not bad for more than a 3 year old, non-commonrail model that used to be 970k brand new.

Thank You sir Memphis. nagdecide na ko na kumuha ng dmax. i talked to some users of dmax here. and i heard alot of good comments. like the FC. from here (cabanatuan) to Baguio. back and forth 650 lang daw nagastos nya sa diesel. at napakalakas daw tlga humatak. dmax lx model 2006 gamit nya.

wait ko nalang mabenta kotse ko. kukuha na po ko ng dmax.
