Wheel alignment?

October 23rd, 2017 09:38 AM #10520you said it, sir.
some designers, designed valve lash be adjusted while the engine is hot. other designers, designed valve lash be adjusted while the engine is cold. they know about thermal expansion, po.
i remember our ancient car, decades ago. we adjusted valve lash in the morning, after breakfast, when engine is cold, as per printed instruction. the car in my garage now, has a sticker indicating valve lash clearance numbers, adjusted while engine is hot.
how often? the designers also mentioned that, in the manual. but when in doubt just how often, we have this guideline, "you can under-do it, but the car won't mind if we do it a bit more often".
errr... if the engine valves are not of those special type, i woulds have thought, such basic info should be printed in the manual...
personally, i think adjusting them valves while engine is hot, is logical. after all, that hot temperature is the temperature where the valves work around.
Engines also work harder, right?
