the problem is with a starex club - 2000 model. this unit came with a factory installed remote-alarm system. strangely, it only came with ONE remote control. this remote control suddenly stopped working. we tried replacing the battery on the remote but nothing happened (we are not sure if its the remote or the main alarm unit thats faulty). so to lock/unlock the car we had to use the key to open the door. since the remote control has always been used everytime, we discovered only now that the mechanical door locks were stuck up! the one on the passenger side was solved by spraying WD40. unfortunately, the door lock on the driver side is still stuck. can anybody refer a good shop who can:
1. diagnose/repair the remote control/alarm system
2. fix the mechanical door locks.
thank you in advance to all who can assist

cj, regarding the remote control/alarm system, you can go to HARI and have this dignosed. The keyless entry of Starex usually comes with only 1 remote controller. Last time I inquired from HARI some months ago, a remote controller(without key) is Php3500 already. So, you may try other options.

re the mechanical locks, go to heni susi of banaue. just look for him at the corner of sonny's ok and ben's ok (near orthopedic, you won't miss their big signs). he is there almost everyday. he does good work and is trustworthy and does not make taga. find him quick by inquiring from the guys standing by in that particular corner. baka siya pa mismo yung mapagtanungan mo.
hope this helps.

January 2nd, 2006 05:44 PM #5to CVT and Diesoline,
thank you for the reply. HARI was able to fix the mechanical lock. they also used a diagnostic machine on the remote control system and found the keyless-remote defective. Unfortunately, its out of stock. At least now the mechanical locking system works and thats the beauty of this alarm system- once you lock the doors (using the key), the alarm is activated.
