Ok lang naman daw yung driver though di naka-setbelt (hence the deformed steering wheel kasi collapsible yun e).

sa poste tumama and the computer decided it's best not to deploy the airbags.

Yes I guess it was the car which decided not to deploy the airbags rather it being a malfunction. Alam ko its very dangerous to have the airbags deploy without a seatbelt since the impact to the airbag will be much greater.

Please Note. SRS = Suplimental Restraint System
It is an addition to the primary Restraint which is the seat belt. No 2 crashes are the same, air bag deployment is determined by the inertia of the crash and may or may not deploy. Also, if there was a fault in the system before the crash, they may not deploy. I have seen Many vehicles in which the airbag light was flashing indicating a problem and the driver ignores it because they don't want to bother taking it to a garage. So, there may have been a problem before the crash also

On most vehicles, the airbag light should come on for *6 seconds, and then go off if the system is working properly. If there is a fault in your durango or a problem in the system, the light will remain illuminated, or flash continuously. If the airbag light does not work properly, some vehicles have an audible tone that sounds indicating a problem with the airbag light system. When the light is on (or the tone is sounding), the airbag will NOT deploy, even in an accident. These systems can only be diagnosed using a scanner designed for the airbag system. Make sure that casa have scanner, baka hanggang silip lang sila dahil wala ka naman doon sa service bay nila.
Check out these websites for more info on airbag systems and the light.
Oh!, one more thing dust cannot affect the airbag sensor.

Thanks so much Sir for the links! yun nga ang sabi ko sa kanila eh.
