Kung ayun ang recommendation better follow it... Pero kung after a min. Before shutting it down mag rev ka like ginagawa ng jeepney drivers, ganun din yun... Sisirain pa din ang turbo... Sa experienced namin more than 20,000 turbos ng nahawakan namin.. Meron 20k rpm, 40k rpm up to 120k rpm pa nga... Partido yan yung iba, Made in China pa yung turbo....

Another thing they don't recommend is excessive idling (5 minutes sa manual), which I think is difficult in the country. Question: would you recommend running the car in high revs occasionally? Some recommend it so as to clear the exhaust system of soot. I would sometimes do this when accelerating from the toll gate after going through long traffic.

What puzzles me is ano yung remedy kung kailangan mo mag idle ng matagal, then you have to switch off the engine after. Can you just open the bonnet to allow the hot air escape?

Beats me. Maybe the extended idling w/o adequate cooling has a tendency to cook the oil in the turbo. Kaya siguro a FS oil is highly recommended.

Its to allow the hot oil to flow across the oil cooler and cool down.

Does the Accent turbo have an OIL COOLER?

Mas mainit pa din cylinder head and liner... Kaya nasisira ang turbo is because of oil deprivation or faulty seals, factory defects... Pag biglang turn off kasi ng engine then naka rev. Ka kahit kunti.. Yung turbo umiikot pa din... Yung pitik sa gas pedal before turning off the engine, patay na engine kaya wala nang nag susuply ng oil sa turbo your turbo rpm can sometimes reach 4500rpm without oil.. Dun nagkakaron ng oil cooking...

Sir what about sa case na nag idle ka ng matagal then you switch off the engine, di masisira turbo nun? I read somewhere that extended idling raises the exhaust gas temperature dahil hindi moving yung car

Since the turbo is actuated by the exhaust gases, idling before shutting down allows the oil to drain from the turbo & turbo to stop spinning. From what I understood from Glenn, in the practice of revving then immediately shutting off the ignition, the turbo continuous to spin while being deprived of oil. So in prolonged idling, the turbo has already stopped spinning. Problems na lang is excessive carbon build up in the exhaust system (including cat conv, EGR & DPF).

It's still pumping oil sa turbo.. Exhaust gas temperature will not harm your turbo, hindi naman ganun kaiinit yun...
