Modern Diesel fed engine cars that have Euro IV emission certification, have a built in DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) at the exhaust system. This is somehow similar to the basic function of Catalytic converter for the Gas fed engines, only this one is added with a very intricate and fine metal strainer after it's catalyst to trap the burnt ashes. Once that metal very fine filter is clogged with ash then you'll surely feel the loss of engine power due to restriction of escaping exhaust gas at your tail end pipe. Also if the trapped PM (particulate matters) is not burned to ash then the clogging will be more evident. And para maburn off mo those PM at the fine filter you need to heat up the Oxidation Catalyst minimum of 300degC. kaya kelangan na medyo kelangan ang spirited driving to attain that exhaust gas temp para magstart yung chemical reaction ng Catalyst sa Particulate Matters to burn it to ash Regeneration mode yun. Eventually kapag certain period of driven miles/hours kelangan na din palinisan ng ASH sa isang specialist clean up shop..( i dunno kung meron na nun sa Pinas) so bale this is somehow also an Italian Tuning type for diesel engine cars.

Ang isang importanteng poison ng oxidation catalyst is sulfur again ...kaya kelangan talga na ULSD ang fuel na gamit also to use the API CJ rating na lube oil. (Low ash content)

Medyo magastos ang maintenance talaga ng new type of diesel engine cars...but hey you're helping saving the earth by lessening the impact of your emissions. Tska kaya nga high Torque and HP now ang mga CRDI engines..gamitin naman paminsan minsan sa Italian tuning..do it safely lang....hindi naman kelangan na overspeeding kelangan lang a little above average engine RPM not necessary speed..put it to D3 lang lol. para hindi mag overspeed..high revving lang. Am not familiar with Hyundai engines but some Cars i.e Volvo trucks have lamp indicators that warned you if you need to perform Regeneration..aka Italian tuning.

the santa fe was an ondoy victim. i already spent 300k on it and still problems were coming out, last of which was the steering freezing up due to a shattered steering column bearing while my wife was driving it, almost causing her to collide with another vehicle. better lose money than be sorry for a lost i can not replace. i'm glad i sold it already as i am very satisfied with the performance of the sorento.
thanks sa share sir. btw, what was the model of your santa fe and what color?

baka yan yung zic XQ 5000 FS with CJ-4 rating. ZIC RV FS has CI-4 rating lang (half the price pa) which is ideal for the type of diesel fuel available to us. although the CJ rated oil is more compatible with the R-eVGT CRDi.

btw, was at unioil to fill up lately. they now have ULSD diesel fuel (euro 4 compliant, less than 50ppm sulfur). same na din yata sa seaoil and jetti.
25 min., I use the SF 15 min / day LNG and di naman highway d2 Ortigas Center Area. Kaya pala Dati parang bumabagal SF ko. Ngaun kse I make it a point na itaas ang RpM over 2K kahit sa daily grind LNG, d bale na fuel efficiency. I noticed improvement naman, maganda hatak nya

Hehe!
Di ko ginagamit GS ko ngayon. Kaya Rev lang hanggang 2k rpm pag normal temp na or higher than 2k rpm ginagawa ko. Pero idle ko muan ng 3 mins, bago ko i shut off ang engine.
