I think the reason they didn't offer the 1.6 CRDi automatic here is because it would be too expensive (would be priced too close to the base Tucson).
Part of the appeal of subcompact vehicles is it's low price.

why not just discontinue the Tucson, and offer this instead as their mini-CRDi flagship. but oh well, eh parang pang press release lang naman ata ng HARI ang model na to. they're not really serious in selling this in quantity

a MT CRDi at P1M territory just won't cut it. yun nga Kia Soul may tig 825K na MT ngaun, pang-uber ata nila. langaw pa din. eto almost 1M,

I think if they price it wrong it will cannibalize the accent diesels... they want to keep the momentum on the accent sales.

The ecosport is just a better choice once that selectshift arrives. hope ford goes all out with the ecosport.

Nothing wrong with cannibalizing your own product as long as pati competitor mo affected. Just limit the inventory of accent kung feel nilang ganun

there IS something wrong with cannibalizing your own product.
the corporation's total net profit decreases.
mas na-pagod na sila, bumaba pa kita.

their objective is to generate profit, so as to keep their heads above water.
unless they are on a corporate vendetta, they do not really care how it affects the competition, because sometimes, the competition has a more comfortable profit margin and deeper pockets than them.

Um, why would their profit decrease? ... the sales increase from a new model would make up for the loss of sales of the other model ...

they invest 100 M for model A. and they made 100M on its sales and service.
they invest another 100 M on model B. and they made 50 M on its sales and service. BUT their moneys from the sale of model A decrease to 50 M, because some potential A buyers, shifted their wallets to B. (B sales ate into or cannibalized A sales.)

    bottomline,
they made 100M from the sale and service of model A.
but they made only 100 M on the combined sales of models A and B, even if they doubled their investment from 100 M to 200 M.

they doubled their investment from 100 M to 200 M, but their profit remained the same, at only 100 M.

it would have been nice, if we had an unlimited buyer population. alas, our buyer population is limited.

Take a look at it from another point of view ... if the company did not invest in the new product, their sales will still take a hit from the competition because they don't have an available product in that particular segment ... it's good that you're a fine doctor ... and not in marketing ...

bringing in a new model is always a gamble. there is no guarantee that the new model will live up to sales expectations. even toyota knows that.
but yes, i will agree wholeheartedly... "nothing dared, nothing gained".

and i'm not a fine doctor. i'm a very good doctor in my field of expertise.

May research naman yan before bringing in e. Minsan nagkakamali. Lalo na mga bulok management like chevy. Haha. Pero yung mga run by japanese na may investment dito like toyota, mitsubishi, honda, mas sureball sila

Im not into marketing pero if cannibalizing sales is an issue baka mas may volume na mabenta ang hyundai if they just sell the creta matic together with the diesel tapos yung base manual tucson ang i forego instead of the other way around.

Kita ko sa MOA display unit nila na Gasoline automatic. Fully loaded, leather seats, traction control, side airbags, reverse sensor, camera. Bakit iba ang nasa specsheet, dual airbag lang at fabric seats.

Any update on this? Are they bringing out the face lifted version or are they going to dump the old India stock here (the one displayed at MIAS is the old version)?
