salamat. parang mazda na 2.0L engine din pala consumption.
doon po sa mga white colored sonata, kamusta naman ang paint? pagka white?
and so far, ano ang "ayaw" niyo sa sonata?
I'm at 6.8km/L but I'm still in my break-in period. Purely city driving if you discard the occasional 100km/h on straight roads.
Ayan, nasa garahe na.. I'll snap pictures tomorrow after washing it. Expect the pictures (and review) to be up by the night.
Only time and the care of the owner will tell on the condition of the paint in the long run. As with all white cars, dirt will start sticking on the paint if you don't maintain it. Leading to what we call "libag" on the white paint. If it's black, swirl marks naman problema mo kasi mashalata yun.
Really loving the Sonata. It's very striking and most people won't guess it's a 1.5M car (it looks downright expensive)
Short review on the negatives. Note that I'm a very critical reviewer.
1. No (?) front plate number holes. Pagnatatandaan ko, the Tucson shares the same problem.
2. Would have hoped the rear sunroof would also open (I'm greedy)
3. Subwoofer should be mounted properly. They simply latched it on the top to save space at the expense of bass quality.
4. Tweeters are too far out the dashboard rather than being in direct line of sight. This is why treble settings is recommended to be +10
5. Some quality question-marks: Chrome interior door handles seems brittle and the paddle shifters feel a bit flimsy.
6. The horns sounds very gay. Parang "pip" lang naririnig mo. NVH insulation rin kasi but the stock horn sounds gay.. no doubt needs a Bosch upgrade.
Very minor quirks.. there's many pluses that easily compensates them. You can easily feel the refinement inside and out.

"Meep" yung sound ng horns
Bosch Europa sagot diyan.
No (?) plate number holes. Pagnatatandaan ko, the Tucson shares the same problem.
Yung Santa Fe naman, oh wellLazy Hyundai Commonwealth. Naka 3M tape lang.
my EQ setting's at +8 bass, +7 mid, +10 treble. Seems good na ako dito.
Uhh, di ko alam hindi gumagana garage lights namin.
Pictures were taken just recently (10pm) and used the camera's flash nalang as the light source. Pictures are scaled to 800x600 for faster loading.

A closer look reveals prominent hood lines that extend up to the grill.

Hehe, napasama paa ko. The steering wheel's very nicely weighted. Thank god HARI gave us the traditional hydraulic steering instead of the US electric steering. I like mine to be consistent.
There are two bulges near the top for grip. In addition, the underside of the wheel has rivets to provide additional grip. You won't have your fingers sliding on this one. So have confidence in one-hand turning.
----
A major hassle here is that although it is iPod ready, the whole user-experience is not. You're most likely going to browse using the center console rather than the steering wheel controls. You only have the next/previous track and the usual volume control on the wheel so load up that play list before departing.
----
Night time view. There's a huge gap between the max illumination and the second-max illumination setting. But the second-max to the minimum illumination dimming progresses nicely. The blue-theme of the Hyundai's is a nice change from the ol' red theme of the Mazda. The red is less straining to the eyes, but the blue is cooler.
*Illumination is legible at night when peering into the glass

Although it's unlikely you'll ever reach even 240km/h, the dials is one of the best I've ever seen. It could use a bigger TFT-LCD screen at the center like the CRV.
The fuel bar "blinks" if you're terribly low on fuel (1 bar and nearing empty)
-----
Center console at night. Notice the knob lines on the center ON/OFF button. It adds a more upscale feel on the knobs and shows Hyundai's appreciation on smaller details.
-----
I'm using my iPod aux interface as my primary music source. Music being played is "Flashdance.. What a Feeling" by Irene Cara(I enjoy the 80s kahit wala pa ako 20)
There's a hassle in changing tracks (artists -> album -> song) when the song title is too long. Because the screen gives you approx. 5 seconds to switch the song using the center console before it "cuts" and returns you to the "now playing" screen.
As you can see, the title of the track is "g" (feelin"g") so the screen "switches" to "Flashdance.. What a Feelin" and "g". If I try to switch the artist to, let's say, Flo Rida, this would happen. Artist -> Flo Rida -> ALL Albums -> BACK TO NOW PLAYING SCREEN -> *you get pissed* -> Club Can't Handle Me.
For audiophiles: Don't worry, the connected iPhone has more than 600 loseless music in it. Not 320kbps tracks but pure FLAC converted into Apple Loseless (.m4a)
The Folder buttons, ENTER, and Tune buttons are the most heavily used buttons here (due to iPod interface). The Volvo-like HVAC is easily understood. Just push the "body" to cycle the airflow. Unfortunately, hindi ito ganun ka-high tech.. I was expecting air flow to go to the "bottom" if I push the bottom part at first. And the head? It's just there for aesthetic purposes. You can't push it.
----
Might not look like it, but the steering wheel is very nice to hold. Magugustohan ito ni eljo, "thick" kasi eh
----
That's all for now. I forgot to include the HID cutoff, morning photos, and reviews on the rear seats (and trunk). Very busy this week but I'll see if I can squeeze a hurried review tomorrow. I arrived later than I expected tonight since we fooled around too long at a friend's house (naglalaro ng Just Dance 2 sa Wii. Who knew I had a hidden talent for dancing)

Nice car jhnkvn. Ganda ng center console pag nakailaw. I just hope na colored sana yung LCD screen, instead of blue that would be super nice.![]()
Thanks.
Problem with colored screens is that brightness needs to be toned down considerably compared to single-color LCD screens which are less straining to the eyes. Of course, single color LCDs are also more cost-effective.
Still better if I can get the navi system though. Tsk..
Frankly, I wouldn't swap this out with a aftermarket 2DINN dvd player or something. It really looks sleek and the overall presentation just "fits". As a consequence, kung sound enthusiast ka, maghanap ka na ng sound processors (Rockford 360.2 or Audison BitOne) which is a 30k investment compared to the raved Alpine unit that just costs 17k. Design win!
Oo naman parang di bagay pag 2DIN DVD kinabit sa Sonata. Mas okay na yung Blue LCD Screen. Mamaya ma-void pa yung warranty ng radio ng Sonata pag pinilit ikabit ang DVD.![]()
If you are interested to read more about your beloved 2011 Sonata, check out the link below. Edmunds staffers and editors have a long term GLS base unit that they constantly review. With 128 blog postings to date, it is apparent that it is one of their favorite rides.
http://blogs.insideline.com/roadtest...ai-sonata-gls/
There are alot of difference between the base model US GLS and the Philippine GLS.
For example:
1. We have leather-cloth seats rather than plain fabric seats
2. Steering system is the traditional hydraulic rather than electric.
3. We have the non-GDi Theta II engine (178HP) rather than the GDi engine (198hp)
4. We definitely don't have the optional Navigation system
5. Our base unit rides on 17" alloy wheels vs 16"
But very nice linkvery informative.
tHIS FORUM BLOWS. BIGTIME. lol
anyway.. am a little upset since elantra, accent are available na. and they all look the same as the sonata! so what separates the sonata if everyone else looks the same!? parang nawalan xia ng premium..
vs the accord and camry from its respective co-product line up.. kita ang distinction.
hmm. im thinking of swapping my sonata to a 2009 e90... my brother before i purchased the car said, if youre spending 1.6M for an asian car, then go buy a mint condition preloved bm instead. 4 years down the road, yours is still BM. now am beginning to reconsider! urgh.
if not maybe a genesis coupe would do? lol.
yeah yeah, maybe when you're driving a volvo or a bmw your face is like this -->
and when you're driving a Sonta your face will just probably be like this -->
however when maintenance period comes, when you drive a volvo/bmw/benz/(insert car here w/ shitty maintenance ) your face will SURELY be like this -->
and when you drive a sonata on the other hand, your face will be just like this -->
why ? those premium brands will require you to pay premium for a simple ... uhg ... oil change.
