Yes! Because Hyundai's technology is now comparable to the technology of Toyota. And the advantage of the Sonata is that, it is a CBU vehicle from Korea. The Camry and the Accord are CBU vehicles from Thailand on the other hand. I have no offense meant for Thai CBU vehicles as we own two of them (Strada and Montero), but CBU vehicles from Korea are more durable than Thai CBU vehicles

tell your brother...look at the resale value of a secondhand camry now vs the resale value of a secondhand sta fe....same yr...and tell me...which one had a bigger drop vs the orig cost ...in fact tell me...how many camrys do you see are being sold vs the number of sta fe....in the classified adds, or in the car exchanges...

in this kinda market...no such thing as toyota having a higher resale value...its all on equal footing now...and in fact toyota is lagging behind...i think the dynamics of the secondhand market is changing...its not soo much the brand, but rather it is more on the class...ie: smaller cars have better resale value and moves much faster than a luxury car...compare a vios vs a camry...vios can be sold much faster at a much less depreciated value vs a camry...so the sonata being a luxury car...would probably have the same fate as the camry...the question is...will the sonata have a bigger drop compared to the camry??? i dont think so...as they say..sonata is value for money...

    Maganda yung Hyper Metallic color.

Anong hindi ka diyan. It does.

    Kasi ganito yan ...

GLS nga bibilhin mo, pero gagawin mong kamukha ng TOTL. Weird diba ? Pointless.

Okay whatever, sabihin natin gusto mo maging TOTL look ... ay, wannabe ? Yeah yeah. Preference mo yan, but still ... man you could set it up the way you want wag naman gagawin parang TOTL.

Dami mong papalitan eh, gagastos ka pa ... in the end kasi GLS pa rin yan., bakit may Panoramic Sunroof ka ba ? Wala. Magagaya mo ba yun ? Hindi ... ay oo pala, boysen paint lang katapat. :hysterical:

Point is, don't be a wannabe. Be proud of what you have. Kasi ang lagay, you bought a GLS and made it look like a Premium or whatever ... ano yan, kinakahiya mo ? Milyon yan huy.

Tama ka nga naman renzo. Unless you're trying to make your own "theme". Like KDM, EuDM, etc. Diba?

I'm 34 and just became a "lolo" but I'd still take the Sonata over the Camry any day. The bottom end Sonata is still better than the top end Cruze. Hell, the new Elantra is better than the Cruze. You know what they say.... You can polish a turd but in the end it's still a turd. Buy a car because you like it and not because of what others will say about you. If you're so worried about what others will say then why are you even considering a Hyundai when the majority of people are still stuck in the dark ages when it comes to their opinions on Hyundai. Few people realize how good Hyundais have become since 2008.

Tama si Renzo. Be proud of who you are. Your car doesn't define you. People who will judge you because of what you drive are not worth being your friends and thus, their opinions don't matter.

Some people want expensive cars because it shows that they have money
and therefore class. Some people equate money with class. But the reality is, money can't buy class.

True gearheads buy a car because they like it and want to drive it regardless of what other people think. The sad truth is most buy a car because they want to show off. It's a good thing that most Tsikoteers are not like that.

Btw, this wasn't meant at anyone in particular. Just my thoughts. I qouted Numbah5 because I found the "lolo" joke funny.

    Peace.

Actually sir since 2006, when the Santa Fe CM was launched

Parang yun ang turning point ng Hyundai dito sa Philippines eh, tapos dumating na yung Accent, Getz.. After a year the VeraCruz, Grand Starex.

We were so used to seeing Japanese, thinking American and looking up to Europeans that we tend to veer away from other makes like those from the Koreans. Hyundai, Kia and Ssangyong make some of the most interesting vehicles nowadays.

    Very well said.

Ako naman I fell in love with the sonata the first time i saw it at macapagal dealership. it was truly breath taking.

i like the car's silhouette, the size, and its so modern and elegant. every angle seems well thought out, and the features that come with it make it really a value for money.

what i like too is that not too many people can have it, and individuality is relished when you have a car like this.

i agree with others, the camry has this stigma for more the "mature" and a chauffeur driven car.

Anyway... i went to hyundai dasma earlier.. wala sila ng GLS... i really wanna see how the non-sunroof gls sonata would look like, other than black. cause i know it wouldnt really be much obvious if the car is black, but what if in hyper and white?

may alam ba kayong branch na confirmed na may GLS?

I really don't think manufacturers should be categorized by country or region anymore. Marques stand for themselves. Each country or region has some good manufacturers and some not so good ones. You can't say all Japanese marques are better than Korean ones or all European marques are better than American ones. maybe in general or on average but really the lines are just about gone. Each one has their duds. For example, America has Chrysler, Europe has Dacia, Yugo, maybe even Saab. Japan has Daihatsu and maybe Suzuki. Even these duds have their stars, like the Suzuki Kizashi and the Dodge Viper to name a few. The best marques have had their duds too, like the Jaguar X-Type, the Porsche 968, and the recent retro styled Ford Thunderbird. Some say even the Bangle styled BMWs. A good car is a good car regardless of who makes it. Companies have hot streaks and slumps all the time. Just like the big three. It's all about the car.

The big exception to all of this are the Chinese. But, maybe in fifteen years they'll be right there with the rest.

Looking at pictures of the Sonata I've recently cooled down on it's looks the Elantra looks nicer in front and better proportioned. Then, today I was at Hyundai Pasig and I saw their black one on display again. It's such a gorgeous car! I've seen it before but forgot how big and magnificent it is. Pictures don't do it justice. I was in a hurry so I didn't notice if it was the GLS. You can try calling them. It's such a gorgeous car regardless of trim that it makes the Accord and Camry look mundane by comparison. I can't comment on the interiors or the drive since I haven't seen the insides or driven all three. You can't go wrong (based on reviews) with the base Sonata either way. Good luck on your search.

That is correct in terms of manufacturer's long practice of mergers, alliances and technology-sharing. Ssangyong's Musso, Chairman and the Istana ( MB 100) were done in collaboration with Mercedes; Chevrolet Captiva ( actually a Daewoo Winstorm in Korea) Optra ( Daewoo Lacetti ) are manufactured in Korea by GM Daewoo, the former being absorbed by the latter; The Ford Escape shares the same platform as the Mazda Tribute and goes back to the 323 being a Ford Laser and the 626, the Telstar; and Hyundai Starex carried an engine made by Mitsubishi.

A basketful of apples will always have one rotten and all manufacturers are capable of producing at least a lemon.
