if it does not glow strongly, then there's something wrong with the remote.
clean the battery and contacts well. clean the keys also (not the buttons outside, but the opposing surfaces inside.). if it still does not glow strongly, your unit might be beyond repair to us mortals.
and, believe it or not, check battery polarity.

if the system is an aftermarket and not factory, you might be able to get replacement remote. ask around from dealers.
or, you might considering replacing the entire system. it should not cost too much. less than 5K siguro.

if the alarm is factory, you'll probably be better off by having an ex-factory system installed. it'll probably be easier and cheaper, than sourcing a replacement remote.

or, you could just do away with the entire thing, and do the good old days of completely manual lock and unlock.

    good luck.
Hi Sir, thanks for the response. Actually hindi na umiilaw eh, last week gumagana pa pero nag sstart na pumalya kaya akala ko mahina lng yung battery. Papacheck ko n lng muna siguro sa casa.

factory pa yung alarm ko so I might consider the non factory system, thanks for the suggestion. may masusuggest ba kayo na shop sa banawe kung saan pwede magpainstall?

Hi fellow tsikot members, first let me thank you for allowing me into the forum. I am a new owner of a Hyundai Elantra. We got the unit from Hyundai Alabang the one across the back of Westgate. Ours is a 6 speed manual and so far it doing us good. We are headed into our first PMS within the week. I have been back reading in the different sub forums and it is quite interesting and very informative. So glad we have a community like this.

Welcome to the forums. If you've been reading around, you'll know by now that Hyundai dealers and HARI itself has a bad rep around here.

The cars are nice pero ingat ka sa mga dealership during after sales...

Sa totoo lang, I haven't seen a good Hyundai service center here in metro manila

I've tried quite a few din for several visits each...

Central edsa (became a harley dealership eventually?)
Greenhills (became a BMW dealership, is now a lotus?)
    North Edsa
    Pasig
    Shaw

Not happy with any of them.

Masanay ka na having your car maintained outside the casa hehe

You are the second person in the forum who has given the same advice, I will give this some serious thought or at least try them out up to the 5000 km service hoping to get good service on their good days

Ako I do my PMS with the casas at the least for the warranty period. Some people say useless yung warranty, pero ako naka claim naman plus it gives you a peace of mind for 5 years. Stick to the basic requirements. Just don't get the flushes, fuel cleaner, aircon cleaning, wheel balancing, and other non-essentials. They sometimes overcharge sa oil quantity so contest it pag malaki difference. I use fully synthetic, para every 6 months lang yung PMS ko. Yung mga na claim ko offsets the higher PMS costs.

I'm from the south. Except for Manila Bay, most of the dealers in the South allow you to bring your own genuine parts, some will ask you to pay corkage.

casa pms is an insurance of sorts.
let us assume casa maintenance will cost you an additional 10K a year, compared to having it done outside.
that 10K is your insurance premium, against possible mechanical problems with the new car.
and as in all insurance, "you pay good money for it, then pray you never have to collect on it".
ganun lang ang ini-isip ko, to make the cost of casa pms "acceptable".

Thanks for the helpful insights am inclined to try out the first 2 pms with the casa so I am canvassing for the best prices so far Dasma has given the lowest price, if I have the engine flush removed semi synthetic would be 2400 while full synthetic would be about 3100; any recent experiences with this dealership?

Hard to see by which metric the Elantra wins over the FD pag similar condition, except for 'rarity' on the road.

    FD, definitely.

It's one of the classic Hondas, a class-leader in its time.

Hi guys. Im hearing sounds from the steering wheel when turning on my almost 5 yr old Elantra GLS. Parang may kumakaskas na plastic pag nililiko ng maige saka pag pabalik sa center yung manibela. Had it checked at a suking talyer and they recommended to replace the steering coupling which I agreed to. After mareplace hindi pa rin nawala yung kaskas sound so sabi kelangan daw palitan yung steering shaft/column costing mga 60k including labor.

this month pa lang magexpire yung 5year warranty supposedly. Hindi na ko nagpapa PMS sa CASA the past 2 years. Do you think makaka claim pa sa CASA? Appreciate your thoughts / advise especially those na nagkaron din ng similar/same problem sa steering column. TIA

Gulp. Jumped the gun and purchased a couple of old stock 2017 Elantra 1.6 mt's.

We're thinking of purchasing the 2016 1.6 at variant. Any known issues?

    Thanks

If you are passionate about your drive, get the 2009 Civic FD. Having said that, it is older and will be more expensive to maintain than the 2012 Elantra. I've driven both regularly at one time and always took the Civic for fun drives while the Elantra was relegated to driver/chore duty.

Our 2012 Elantra's steering coupler needed replacement on the 3rd year. So I wouldn't rule out just yet that the current model does not have this same issue. They both have EPS after all... That tiny steering coupler, which costs less than P100, will cost more than P3k labor at the dealership. I remember someone here in the forums offering home service for something like P5k.
