Honestly, I've only checked out vios, accent, avanza, jazz, city and elantra. Though I still go back to elantra every time. Hehehe...

You gave me a bunch of things to research again which is good. Maintenance is another thing. Having a car seems to be like having a kid. Hehehe...

The Vios, Accent, Avanza, Jazz and City are all subcompact cars. The Elantra is classified under the compact segment and being more upscale and all will definitely feel bigger, more upscale, more luxurious and better built. The subcompacts (especially with their smaller 1.3L - 1.5L engines) will be easier on fuel though.

The Elantra's competitors in terms of size, features and price range are the Toyota Altis, Honda Civic, Mitsubishi Lancer EX, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, Subaru Impreza. Not sure if I left any out.
