Sir andretti, yup tama po. Nasagap ko po yang balita na yan nong pinatrabaho ko yong velocity joint ko. Actually ang pagkakasabi is there are certain units of interestst identified through VIN Nos.
Yon daw yong priority nilang iupdate.
Yung sa friend ko sa HARI meron din knocking problem yung Accent 1.4 M/T niya. Siya lang nakakapansin sa family nila.

Hehehehe, eh mismong taga HARI nga tinamaan pa. Hehehehe, ang bagong accent kasi, parang Diesel kung naka idle. Yong 'tik' sound ng rocker arm, masyadong obvious.
Honda City GM ng wifey ko, hindi naman ganon ka obvious yong "tik" sound ng rocker arm...
Yang knocking na yan hindi naman lahat nakakapansin. Yung mga medyo oc like me siguradong mapapansin yan. Pag babae driver or matanda most probably hindi napapansin. Kaya siguro marami din hindi nagrereport.
And by the time mapansin ito malamang malala na. Sabagay 5 years warranty naman and hindi naman aabot ng 5 years bago lumala ang knocking. Kaya malamang pila pila mag ooverhaul ng accent nyan in the near future
Thats weird, yung unit ko tahimik ang idle. Halos hindi nga malaman kung naka on or off ang engine. And tahimik din when accelerating. Except when knocking of course. Ngayon wala ng knocking sound, sobrang low power ang naging kapalit.

Hindi ganun kalakas ang tunog ng knocking. Pag naka on aircon and radio malamang hindi mo maririnig. Pag malakas na yung knocking sound its too late na. Overhaul time na yan.
At naalala ko pala bro bratski.
Inupdate nila Q. Ave yung ECU ng Accent niya nung 1000km PMS.

Does any of your dealer's service center tried opening the valve cover? I'm was thinking that one or two of the rocker arms got dislodge from the its pinned position. Newer engine cars like Toyota VVTi have shim less rocker arms. Ganyan din yung mga nakita kong VVTi na paulit-ulit sa casa na hindi nila maayos dahil puro reset ECU lang ang ginagawa. Same symptom of loss power and knocking. Mga bagong engine ngayon hindi na nakatuhog na parang barbecue ang mga rocker arms, nakaipit na lang sa overhead cam and push rods, kaya there's a possibilty na mawala sa position at mahulog lalo na kung lumuwag yung mga turnilyo ng overhead cam or mahina ang oil pressure for the push rods.
baka masyado lang kayo na paranoid dyan sa knocking sound...wala ba knock sensor ang engine nyan?? kasi kung meron yung ang magsasabi na may knocking talaga...
hindi naman masisira ang engine sa knocking eh.. lalo na modern engines na mas matigas ang engine parts..
yung toyota vios ng kuya ko dati madidinig mo na may takitik din sa makina eh.. hindi naman nasira 120,000kms na natakbo nun 2010 model pa
as of this stage, i dont think ECM replacement will solve the problem. nag ta trial and error pa din ang HARI in resolving this problem, hindi pa nila talaga alam ang long-term solution, IMHO. like i said, i got M/T, and my dealer already replaced my ECM but still experiencing low powered during 1st and 2nd gears. not bad comparing low power prior to the replacement (ECU upgrade) but you can still be destructed and affected especially in heavy traffic driving. kaya tinawagan ko dealer ko and told them this, "HINDI KO HAHAYAAN ULI MAGING GUINEA PIG ANG KOTSE KO, TAWAGAN NYO AKO KAPAG MAY SOLUSYON NA KAYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Just wondering how can a big international company unable to solve such issues? Kung simpleng ECU update lang yan, which they are doing AFAIK, palagay ko naman sa tagal na ng issue na to (kahit na pa trial and error pa ang trabaho nila e) dapat man lang na ayos na to.
I think its more than just an ECU update... a month of testing is more than enough to do such test IMO. or ginawa nalang talaga nilang testing units ang mga tsikot natin sa Pinas...
Buti nalang yung unit ko (MT) ala pa din knocking as confirmed by my in-laws, but will do tests again next week pag nasa pinas nako...
Iba naman yata yung takitik sa engine knock, yung takitik tunog ng mga valves yun and its normal. Afaik kung hindi nakakasira ang engine knock walang magrereklamo. Ive read it numerous times before naakakasira ang knocking sa engine if left uncorrected. Kung ok lang talaga ito yung mga high performance cars pwede ng maglagay ng low octane gas and not worry about the long term damage.
