What pissed off the missis the most was the missing 6 airbags that is standard on the US model. Ah well...good thing it'll be me who'll be driving it the most.

Btw, CRDi engines more fuel efficient BUT make more noise (that's why most of them live under a plastic shroud) than diesel engines of comparable size. The CRDi maintenance schedule is pretty much like the conventional diesel engine's. Meaning you only have filters and fluids to regularly look after.

Btw, the Tucson is a 4x4. How much is a CR-V 4x4 anyways?

    Hi Otep,

I disagree on the noise observation, I own a local Pajero 97 w/ 4d56 engine similar to your ride, before getting a Sorento, but the former(4d56-Pajero) tend to have a louder takatakatak sound than the Sorento, especially in the early part of the day (morning)... And more especially if we compare it to isuzu engines... My father owns a crosswind.. Another observation, my brother in law who owns an Innova, well, the Sorento Engine is quiter and has lesser vibration....

The Crosswind already uses a Di engine. The older Isuzu 2.8 is quieter. That's why most newer Di and CRDi engines live under plastic shrouds to contain the noise.

If a closely similar Di and pre-chamber engine were both bench tested, chances are the Di engine will be noisier as there is no pre-chamber to contain the noise of the explosion. However, more modern encapsulation, insulation, and acoustic technology has allowed Di engines to have similar if not quieter noise levels than conventional pre-chamber engines.

AFAIK... among Japanese cars that are being sold locally, only the Mazda6 2.3L has 6 airbags.

Hyundai Pasig will open by March. Sa C-5 sila south bound before you go up the bridge sa Pasig. The asst.manager is a very good friend. They are accepting orders already. You can call him up, 0927-2546959, Darwin Mercado. You might get a better deal since mag bubukas pa lang

Sorry if OT but I'm curious how the Mazda 6 2.3L is doing.

For me, parang very good deal sha among all midsized sedans. Power is just right, daming goodies, excellent interior space, sporty image, priced very competitively, & not very common.

I wonder if its just me but I'd seriously consider it if I was in the market for a LWB Japanese sedan.

gud tidings, meron akong tiningnan na tucson naka show sa Robinson's Galeria, i believe hangang bukas na lang yata sila doon, maganda ang loob nung standard model nila maluwag ang loob kasya apat na adults. ok rin ang legroom tapos ung price at 888K ay ok na, ang comment ko lang baka mababa ang mileage compared to others in its class kasi 2.0 ang engine tapos malaki ang kaha. ano sa palagay nyo?

This vehicle is probably is one of the most underrated among the CUV market in the Philippines.

The CRDi engine is much more responsive than the D4-D engine in an Innova. In fact, I find it as responsive as a gas powered engine. Step on the pedal and without hesitation, it will lunge instantly. Outside the Tucson you can hear the usual diesel clatter, but it sounds very subdued already. Inside, you will think that this is a gas powered engine since you DONT get to feel or hear the normal the stereotypical diesel clatter at all.

It is actually not much smaller in size than a CRV. The Tucson is only shorter in length, which means less cargo space, otherwise, the interior space accomodation feels the same as the CRV.

Now, if they can just do something about the price of the 4x4 CRDi. The price makes it around Php100,000 more than a 4x2 CRV a/t and around less the same amount for a 4x4 CRV a/t.

I rode side by side with a black one going to GH. malaki sya tignan, perhaps as big as Mazda tribute. on the road there was a 1st gen CRV, 2nd CRV and Tucson. Tucson ang pinakamalapad and it looks nice pala.

magkano ang 4x4 CRDi nito? mukang ok. somebody here said na number 4 na ang Hyundai sa States among imports. this car is worth looking at. I like it.

[QUOTE=oldblue].... magkano ang 4x4 CRDi nito?....

1.188M, pero effective feb 1st increase sila between 2 - 6 percent daw, I learned it from Russel of Hyundai Ortigas. Interested din ako eh, i forgo ko na sana ung Sedonang hinahunting ko, kaso nalaman ko na ung standard/entry model nila both M/T and A/T, walang airbags nga! of all the things na i compromise nila ung safety pa! cguro ung CRDI meron na lahat non, kaso na off sa budget, aabutan tuloy ako ng increase

    Compare Hyundai Tucson 4x4 P 1.188
    Honda CRV 4x2 1.078

Difference of P 110,000.00 in price
If you save P 2,000.00/mon for diesel fuel, it will take you 4 1/2 years to recover the difference in price.

    Savings
per mon.in fuel Price Difference Years to recovery
    2,000 110,000 4 1/2 years
    3,000 110,000 3 years
    4,000 110,000 2 years 3 mons

Hmm...if you include car depreciation as well, by the time you recover fuel costs and sell your Tucson in 5-6 yrs, baka talo overall compared to the CRV.

    Just my 2 cents..
