At 1.188, price is high for a Hyundai. We have to take into account that CRDI engine consumes more fuel than previous generation diesel Although CRDI engine is more powerful, less noise, and cleaner emission. But if you want these advantages, mag-gasoline engine ka na lang. You wont be saving much anyway. Don't know if maintenance costs is higher for CRDI.

    Compare Hyundai Tucson 4x4 P 1.188
    Honda CRV 4x2 1.078

Difference of P 110,000.00 in price
If you save P 2,000.00/mon for diesel fuel, it will take you 4 1/2 years to recover the difference in price.

    Savings
per mon.in fuel Price Difference Years to recovery
    2,000 110,000 4 1/2 years
    3,000 110,000 3 years
    4,000 110,000 2 years 3 mons

Hmm...if you include car depreciation as well, by the time you recover fuel costs and sell your Tucson in 5-6 yrs, baka talo overall compared to the CRV.

    Just my 2 cents..

I've been driving my Pajero for around 4 years already. If I had bought a Tucson CRDi, nabawi ko na pala. hehehe.

Btw, CRDi engines more fuel efficient BUT make more noise (that's why most of them live under a plastic shroud) than diesel engines of comparable size. The CRDi maintenance schedule is pretty much like the conventional diesel engine's. Meaning you only have filters and fluids to regularly look after.

Btw, the Tucson is a 4x4. How much is a CR-V 4x4 anyways?

now... it should be the cr-v who should be doing some serious catching up.

though it would be interesting if we compare the sorento & the tucson.

    Honda i-CTDi:
138bhp at 4,000rpm, with 340Nm of torque delivered at 2,000rpm

yun nga lang wala yatang balak maglabas ng CR-V diesel dito

    Hi Otep,

I disagree on the noise observation, I own a local Pajero 97 w/ 4d56 engine similar to your ride, before getting a Sorento, but the former(4d56-Pajero) tend to have a louder takatakatak sound than the Sorento, especially in the early part of the day (morning)... And more especially if we compare it to isuzu engines... My father owns a crosswind.. Another observation, my brother in law who owns an Innova, well, the Sorento Engine is quiter and has lesser vibration....

Sa price lang magkalapit ang Sorento at Tucson. But the Sorento lives in another class.

Sorento: Traditional SUV. Body-on-frame, dual range transfer case, live rear axle.
Tucson: Cute-ute. Unibody, single speed 4wd, independent suspension all around

Sabi nga sa Car & Driver when they tested the Sorento that it can compete with the Chevy Blazer, Nissan Pathfinder, etc. But undercuts their prices significantly.

the styling is a rip off, from a well known SUV, from the front fascia to the aircon controls.

Why doesn't Hyundai change their designs? Yung Starex alanganin yung nose, ok sana likod. Same with the Tucson. Make it more sleek and aggresive, their current designs have to much curves and their headlight designs are well... "out of this world".

kawawa naman yung nabiling kong kariton, masyadong api, hehehe. So far satisfied naman ako.

Ang daming kulang sa features ng Phil. version nito compared to that of other countries (particularly US and UK). Bakit kaya ganun?

    lahat naman ng sasakyan ganyan...

like the Rav4... sa abroad meron nang steering-wheel control, headlight levelizer, rear sensor, double lock, etc...

kung lahat ng features na yan eh kasama, imagine mo lang kung magkano ang presyo nyan.
