Beat a D15B with a PH15?
Boy oh boy...
How much money does your bro have? And how much slower is his car than the other?
A lot of non-turbo tuning is in the proper matching of intake and exhaust components... having the right intake, header and exhaust goes a long way to making the most out of your puny PH15. A good set of well-designed headers for the D15 will do wonders... there are shops locally that can do copies of some of the better racing headers for the 1.5 - 1.6 mills, like the Bisimoto... a mandrel bent imitation, though, will cost the better part of 15k pesos.
A full mandrel bent exhaust... another 12k... buy a good muffler. A cheap one will just lose you power, and a "scav" set-up will kill your midrange power. It'll give you more top-end, but you need mid-range power for your launch.
Don't go cheap on the intake. A long intake tube with a K&N head fits your purposes well.
After that, if he can't beat the other car, it'll get crazy.
Remove all excess weight. Remove the carpet and chip away all excess sound deadening. Unbolt the passenger and rear seats, as well. Strip all non-essentials, including the AC. Switch to smaller wheels... you can get some Yokohama sports tires in 14", y'know...
Beyond that...
To comprehensively overpower a modified D15B with full IHE, he'll need good headworks, a high performance cam, maybe a high compression build... convert the engine to EFI (if it isn't) and retune the thing with a Hondata system... get it to rev to about 9000k...
Heck, do the last part alone, along with IHE, and you have a fighting chance. It'll be an obvious change, but he wants to win, right?
Of course, the one way to win, for sure....
No cost at all. Just need a saw and lots of time. 2 seconds off the quarter-mile time and two and a half seconds faster to 100 km/h...
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

December 2nd, 2009 07:47 PM #22yun lang bro... yan na siguro pinak detailed way to beat a d15b using ph15. ang iniisip mo at eh... kumbaga "magkarga" ka lang ng kng ano eh bibilis ka na. it is not like in the movies na kng ano ano nilalagay, kunwari stock tpos bibilis na. it will take a lot of work to do that.
maniwala ka bro, mapabilis mo man yan nde pa rin maniniwala na stock pa rin yung ph15 mo. why? nakakarera na niya yung oto eh, syempre magugulat yun bakit biglang tumulin ng sobra.
mahirap yang gusto mo bro. seriously speaking if he really wants the car to go faster, you should modify it properly.
kahit siguro si schumacher hinde kayang papanaluhin yung stock ph15 mo kalaban yung d15b eh

December 3rd, 2009 10:29 AM #23Some stealth set-up para hindi halatang sinetup kahit magkabukasan ng hood:...
Tune at your own risk...
- Port and polish headwork
- Tune up, change oil, fill up with 95 or 96 octane
- Adjustable camgears
- Light flywheel
- Remove compressor and power steering belt (assuming straight line ang labanan)
- Empty your trunk and remove all unnecessary weight, including tools and jack
- Strip-out interior
- Remove the resonator tubes from the stock airbox (assuming efi na yan - this alone gave a lot healthier rpm response on my d15b using oem air cleaner ... responses like a simota short-ram)
- Remove air cleaner (dont replace with ladies' stockings...) but make sure walang baha or sobrang alikabok sa strip na pagkakarerahan niyo
- Install fuel controller then retune the piggyback
- Inflate your tires 2 psi higher than normal (kung naka-14s or 15s ka) or 1 psi than normal (kung naka 16s ka) .. or if you want you can fill it up with nitrogen, although I havent had one myself
- Install short shifter
That's not a lot of money though... but a lot of risk sa daily drivability of the car...

December 3rd, 2009 10:40 AM #24Just be wary though that the above setup is not an efficient way of moding your engine for power and torque gains... and porting and polishing aint reversible .... meaning you can't go back to stock after that...
But you insist on powering it up ng hindi halata pag nagkasilipan na...
Basically, a simple reduction of weight and IHE restriction should serve its purpose...
And practice, practice, practice especially up- and downshifting (hehe para naman ganun talagang kalaki yung gains in power) ... else you end up losing your transmission or worst,.. blowing up your engine

Heh. Drag Racing ei ?
You'll need a lot of money to make your brothers engine much much faster than the d15b. ;)
But like what you said. You've beaten your rival's vehicle by using a stock b16 engine. SiR ?
Congrats tho.

if you want to get the best of both world (horsepower and torque in one) then you have no other option than built a b20vtec. Just remember built it right and strong.
approximately a performance engine build alone will cost you around P400,000.00 or more depending on your budget and combo of high performance part.
9 or 10 sec of quarter mile is easy on good b20vtec built.
