All you need is 3v LED (better kung 12v para wala ng resistor), 1 kilo-ohm resistor, 12-gauge wire, soldering gun, soldering paste and electrical tape.

Solder lang yung resistor sa positive leg ng LED. Then tap via the 12-gauge wire, dun sa VTEC solenoid connector, para wala ng splicing. Ung other end of the wire, to any negative terminal ng kotse (chassis, negative node ng battery, etc.)

It was fun at first, but the novelty quickly wears off.

Thanks everybody!!! Just got home and hinataw ko for a while sa commonwealth yung 97 VTi SOHC ko. It felt like nag kick in at 1.4k RPM yung VTEC. What a rush!!! just got my civic last month so hindi ko pa talaga sya kabisado. any help is gratly appreciated po. Like things I need to watch out for for this particular unti. Like hi tension engine and suspension upragrdes. Im planning on street set up. so im calling on all civic experts to chip in their two cents worth, any input is most welcome po. budget is quite tight at the moment kaya budget consideratons should be taken into account. Pls feel free to share your valuable knowledge. BTW, SOHC lang po itong unit ko. very stock pa din po, escet the muffler. also ple recommend a good suspension shop na ok ang trabaho without being pricey. QC fairview area lang po sana.

    Here's my plan:
Tanabe DF210 Lowering spring with 1.5" drop (NORMAL RIDE)
    15" mags
    hight tension wires
    split fire spark plugs
    Racing filters K n N or Apexi
    strut baR
H/E set-up kung may pera pa.

Suggest lang po kayo ng shops na ok ang trabaho, kung meron sa faiview/QC area mas ok po.

your 97 vtec is actually has a vtec-e engine. it shifts from 12 valve to 16 valve mode to save on fuel. it doesn't have a 2 cam profile like the b- series engines. if you want to make it fast, find a 20 lobe d15 head (complete with ecu and distributor) and slap it on your engine block. but if you want real power, i suggest you save up and install a turbo kit instead.

can you please explain further yung 20 lobe d15 head? magkano po kaya ito? turbo is very expensive eh, nasa 100k ata!!!!

    1. 1.5 drop is ok
    2. 15 is ok. i have 16s on my 99, ok din naman. mahal lng ng quality new tyres.
    3. high tension wires... yung stock wires ok naman. fatter wires, more resistance.
    4. plain bkr5 or bkr6e is reliable and cheap. you won't need those fancy splitfires if you're not running high boost from turbo. won't make your car go any faster, so i suggest stick to the plain plugs.
    5. racing filters... ok din naman. my experience, parang iba ang sound. over long distances ang sakit sa ulo (for me at least).
    6. strut bar, sa engine bay? ok.
    7. headers/exhaust... don't buy too large diameters else you will lose bottom end power (torque).

simple i/h/e konti lang naman gains nyan (not like GT1, headers lang kita mo na yung results). i suggest you hit the honda club of the phils forum tech area for some tips on how to build a quality all-motor ph16.
