errr.. not really. Ever wondered y ur folks said that? bec. that was the case before (nung time pa nila.. ) when honda cars are few pa. Nissan and Honda parts share the same stigma in the parts dept. judged as more expensive always. Learned from experience na din coz I run errands before on buying parts for a relative who is into car buy n' sell buss. But mind u, there are parts of honda or nissan na mas mahal than ur toyata but not that much, and the toyota parts kc is very very common, daling hanapin.
And that's the story of the leading Jap auto makers known as the "Big 3" in the world automotive market (toyota, nissan, honda) in the parts dept. Thank you.

so as for honda parts being expensive. totoo maykamahalan orig eh, pero lahat naman sila mahal

When it comes to orig parts, prices are more or less at par IMO... Honda will have premium but the difference isnt that huge a sum. Toyota gets its main advantage on the sheer volume of replacement parts available in almost any store (kulang nalang sa Mercury Drug :P).
I also had an observation before on some Toyota parts not being as long lasting as those on our Nissans and Hondas before... this was when i was comparing the clutches of cars basically driven the same way. Yung Toyota wala pang 100K but the clutch was already sliding while the Honda clutch soldiered on to around 130K kms before showing signs of sliding. The Vios of my brother-in-law already has a sliding clutch and the mileage hasnt even hit 30K kms... It seems we've always had sliding clutch problems on our 1300 Corollas before as well, while our '93 Sentra JX still has it's original clutch (around 95,000kms mileage right now). This is just an observation with one particular part i've experienced before.

July 27th, 2007 12:18 PM #25This is just base on my experience... and have owned/experienced both brands, current and old
We also have a policy that all cars are to be serviced by CASA... so my comments are base on these.
Honda is more expensive when its CASA serviced... PMS (standard PMS... change whatever is written in their manual... no broken parts) of Jazz roughly 7T Pesos... Toyota Altis less than 5T... I have a Nissan Sentra also less than 5T din... actually less than 3T pa nga
Honda is very sensitive to number of months instead of Km reading... so even if you tell me 10T yun servicing.... I still have to follow their 6 months, else void warranty.
Toyota, is happy to service warranty claims as long as you follow the every
5T Km reading... or every year (kung less than 5T Km/year)
for my type of usage... Toyota ends up cheaper
But if you are considering replacement parts... seems pareho lang sila
Just my 2 cents
BTW - I dont understand why Honda actuators/alarm... power windows normally breaks down... 1 actuator sa Civic 03 model... I was charged with 5T pesos CASA siyempre... I know kung replacement 500 pesos lang sa tabitabi.

i don't think so. that is,if you take good care of your car. Honda is as robust as Toyota- though the big T is very much popular than Honda- the parts for Honda is a bit expensive because it's quite limited compared to Toyota. and yes, by the time you have to replace something on your Honda, i'm sure you have accumulated many miles already.

July 28th, 2007 05:49 PM #27We have Corollas and Honda Citys here in the office, ang napansin ko ang suspension parts ng honda laging assembly at di pwedeng palitan part by part, unlike sa toyota, pwede palitan yung balljoint, suspension bushings by itself, pag Honda yan kailangan buong suspension arm assembly palitan, for that reason nagiging mahal ang parts ng Honda IMO. kaya ayaw na namin ng Honda

February 27th, 2008 04:05 AM #28Agree with you guys... kung nasa labas lang ng makina, pwede yan kahit sa labas mo papagawa..pero kung if it involves engine parts, mas maganda kung original talaga..good thing about honda kase is they really know what they are doing, just like before nagpagawa ako sa civic ko, mya oil leak kase, pinapa change oil ko, bagong oil pan gasket, spark plugs, ayun may leak parin, di nila alam kung saan talaga nanggagaling yung leak.pinahigpitan ko yung oil fliter kase baka maluwag lang pero no good parin, sa sobrang frustrated ko na, pumunta ako ng CASA ayun naayos nila. Breather chamber pala may sira.O ring lang ata yung pinalitan tas ayun na..so its still reliable talaga kung sa CASA kaso lang mahal minsan. but its worth it. No hassle

I think its no longer the case these days especially against the modern Toyota's pareho na lang sila ng Honda sa cost of parts more or less.....

The parts themselves aren't significantly more expensive than other carmakers.
From my experience the Honda dealers make a killing on labor and checkup fees...
