Are you sure na fully? Mineral lang and naka indicate sir sa HONDA VTEC LEV. Di kayo niloko ng honda. You need to read the label and specs talaga. They have Fully and semi synthetic din naman. Make it sure lang. Pag 1,500 lang ang gallon, di yan 100%Synthetic. Average per liter pa lang ng fully synthetic is Php 600.

September 17th, 2010 12:20 PM #35You can check the specification in the internet or with the company who manufactured the oil. They will tell you naman in details. May mga company kasi na ang nakalagay Synthetic Technology or synthetic blend of Synthetic fortified lang. Hindi 100% yun. Semi-lang.
Strategy lang nila to price their oil at a premium price. Mostly naman kasi natatakot yung mga owner pag lumampas na ng 10k kms. and mileage. Change oil agag. Pag 10k kms. lang, better semi-synthetic na lang gamitin mo. :-)

September 17th, 2010 12:41 PM #36Synthetic motor oils are artificially made oils from the following classes of lubricants:

Polyalphaolefin (PAO) = American Petroleum Institute (API) Group IV base oil

Synthetic esters, etc. - API Group V base oils (non-PAO synthetics, including diesters, polyolesters, alklylated napthlenes, alkyklated benzenes, etc.)

Hydrocracked/Hydroisomerized = API Group III base oils. Chevron, Shell, and other petrochemical companies developed processes involving catalytic conversion of feed stocks under pressure in the presence of hydrogen into high quality mineral lubricating oil. In 2005, production of GTL (gas-to-liquid) Group III base stocks began, the best of which perform much like polyalphaolefin. Group III base stocks are considered synthetic motor oil only in the United States; Elsewhere they are not allowed to be marketed as "synthetic".

Semi-synthetic oils also called “synthetic blends, fortified or synthetic technology” are blends of mineral oil with no more than 30% synthetic oil. Designed to have the benefits of synthetic oil without matching the cost of pure synthetic oil but not of the same level performance
.
So, if you love your baby ? Better used the 100% Fully Synthetic Oil . . . J

September 17th, 2010 04:21 PM #40Pwede sir.
Japanese cars on their service manuals only specify ranges. Mostly the oils that are a little viscos such as 10w-30,15w-40,20w-50 are usually semi and mineral based oil.
The lighter once such 5w-30,5w40,0w-20,0w30 and etc. are the fully synthetic oils which are more stable in severe conditions. Added value for the fully synthetic besides the excellent protection on your engine and extended interval, it promotes energy conservation or fuel efficiency due to less fluid friction.
Hope I was able to help you sirs :-)
