First of; you can actually test it manually by taking off your shocks out of the car. 'You'll be needing spring compressor to do this'. Then try to squeeze the shaft against the body; by doing that, you can able to assess if there is less or enough resistance in movement of the shaft along with the force you applied. If there is less resistance or 'no' resistance at all, your shock is 'shot'.. You've got to change it..

Thanks for the quick reply sir. I see yun pala yung way para macheck kung talagang kailangan ng palitan yung shock.

Check the shocks for any leaks, kung napansin mo basa yung paligid, palitin na yan.

One way to check it without removing the shocks is called 'suspension performance test' it is a computerised testing wherein all you have to do is put the 2 front wheel of ur car into a square metal flatform (approx 12" x 12") and it would act as a real world simulator by applying a dumping motion in ur front wheels for several seconds.. The computer will sense if the tension in your suspension is bilaterally equal or there is an imbalance of more than 50%.. This technolgy is used to check cars suspension much more accurately rather than going into traditional mechanical diagnosis by removing all those suspension.. ., there should be someone somewhere around there in manila area doing that.. No quite sure though but it would lessen the hassle of prying all those seized bolts out..

If there's no one else's there you got no choice brother..

They still check the shocks the old fashioned way by just bouncing the corners. Works naman eh.

Wow you're basing it on a tv show.. Are you based in UK?? Anyways it used on every single car being tested yearly to assess road worthiness of all cars on the road not single out suspensions alone.. FYI the test is called NCT.. Google it for more info..

Best way to test it is by "actual feel" during driving. When shock absorbers go bad, the shaft gets stuck at the bottom and isn't strong enough to retract and push the car back up.

IMO replaced it every 80k kms.. Or earlier, Or any signs of wear sa tires.. Or pag hindi na stable sa high speeds ang car mo, even if their is no signs of wear on your shocks or tires...
