After seeing some european car magazines, just wondering and wandering why there is no diesel variant of the Honda CRV here in our Country...
Motion Cars might say that its design is bland but I still find it OK and very much to my liking...

Probably guys from our local Honda dealers can help enlighten me on this...

sorry for my ignorance, there is also a diesel version for x-trail? How come they are not bringing these variants here? I am sure that plenty of people will really be lining up for them... Like the Kia Sorento, there are more who are lining up for the diesel (deluxe version) than the top of the line V6 gas .... mmm again...

Bakit yung diesel, hindi rin ba mataas? Dito sa atin halos pareho na ang presyo ng gas n diesel fuels.

Common explanation for the lack of diesel variants would be the quality of diesel which is by law mandated to be equivalent to EURO I. As for Honda if I recall correctly they handle all the petrol engines while Isuzu handles all the diesel engines. They'd eat each other's market if they sold directly competing vehicles.

BMW has a very good 2L diesel engine for the 1 & 3 Series and yet have abstained from bringing them in.

I think the Kia Picanto has a diesel engine as well. At the rate the local Picanto is consuming fuel a diesel variant would be phenomenal to say the least.

BMW 530d is also a diesel but according to BMW Phil these two are detuned to compensate.

I've heard local car 'makers' usually cite quality of our diesel fuels for not offering diesel engine...

From what I read somewhere, the 2.2 engine use in the diesel variants of both the CRV and Accord was the first foray of Honda into the world of diesel engines. The engine was designed by the same honda team who came up with the VTEC gas engine. The diesel CRV has already garnered some good reviews in the UK. I am not sure though but I think it has been available in the european market for a year already. Kung bakit hindi ilabas dito? Siguro meron usapang talaga o pakakasundo na ganoong mga modelo lang ang ilalabas nila dito para mapag-ingatang ang kanya-kanyang market segment. Who knows? one can never tell, baka maglabas din sila balang araw dito!! How I wish!!!

Given the quality of diesel we have, will the diesel versions of the CRV, etc run well without need of frequent servicing?

  18. #18
Will the maintenance cost of newer CRDi engines offset the price difference between petrol and diesel? Ex. Innova's CRDi eats up 7li of motor oil compared to around 4-5 li for the VVti

I think ang big reason ng Japanese car manufacturers dito kaya ayaw ilabas yung CRDI engined mini SUVS cause mahal daw at masasapwan ang gas variants.Pag commercial vehicle lang daw in short ang CRDi.

The diesel engine was developed in and for European consumption only. It is not sold in other markets.

Unlike the BMW diesels which are designed for worldwide use. Though medyo hirap nga sa dirty diesel natin.
