As for now, I'm worried about HCPI's current assembly plant. It seems that their quality/manufacturing doesn't seem to be satisfying enough.
I mean, aside from the fuel tank problem with the 7th gen Civic, I've seen a pic wherein there is a crack in the steering wheel of one of those Honda City units.
This makes me worried about what happens when we starting producing FD Civics locally. I mean, you have a car that is totally brand new and then later on, you see that the side airbags won't deploy even after a severe accident. Heck, I even wonder if Sta. Rosa plant knows how to properly install side airbags once the new Civic arrives.
This makes think that it would be better for the FD Civic to be produced in Thailand. Sure it would be a bit more expensive (compared to locally-produced) but at least, you get better reliability, uncompromised vehicle quality and assurance that your airbags would deploy in the event of a head-to-head collision.
Until then, if HCPI won't improve & upgrade their plant facilities, then I would rather prefer that our upcoming Civic would be produced in Ayutthya, Thailand

January 19th, 2006 09:15 PM #462i don't think a big company like Honda will botch up stuff like this althought anything can happen. this may be the reason for the delay of the launch of the new civic. The honda plants may be trying to configure its facilities to be able to produce the new civic properly.

I read somewhere that HCPI's recent spate of quality problems came as a result of their impending or concluded? CBA. Even when they are transporting the vehicles on the vehicle carrier, they are not so careful when installing the harness, so even the bumper molding (of the CRV) got scratched.
The dealer was about to present to us the unit, until I saw the scratches in the front and rear bumpers. Eventually they made that unit their test drive unit.

*Blackraven, regarding quality of Philippine construction... The Lynx was fully built in the Ford plant here, and, as one club mate of mine can attest, the airbags deploy just fine.

Sabi sa motioncars April 3, 2006 naman daw. Sana maayos na nila yung labor problems sa Sta. Rosa plant para dito pa rin i-assemble ang mga units. Sayang, marami-rami ring trabaho yung magegenerate dun.
