Thailand's worst flood in 50 years claimed the lives of 610 people and caused billions in damage, but with the waters slowly receding, the extent of the damage is coming into focus.

Among the tens of thousands of businesses affected by the disaster, Honda hasn't been spared – its factory in the Ayutthaya province was hit hard, and in an effort to assure that damaged vehicles never make it to consumers, the Japanese automaker has begun to scrap over 1,000 vehicles damaged during the flood.

Honda workers have begun disposing of row upon row of Brio and City subcompacts submerged during the flooding using construction equipment and vehicle crushers to demolish the 1,055 vehicles. The tragic yet oddly beautiful gallery above chronicles the aftermath and resulting destruction.

ouch for the insurance companies... when this tragedy happened, the philippine govt should have grabbed the opportunity to present business cases for car manufacturers; philippines as possible alternate production site.

    All parts are 100% recycled.

Besides, there are still an abundance of parts from Ondoy, Sendong, etc....

Even the wheel rim are recycled. Before it was shipped off to the shredder, acetylene was used to "spot damage" the rims, making them useless to would be scavengers.

manilawala kayo sa Honda, wala na talagang mapapakinabangang kaya nagpapaganda na lang sila ng image. kung pwede pa yan i recycle pa nila kaso wala na talaga. baka mas mahal pa pag i restore nila. so magpabida na lang kunwari concern sila sa public..pwe!

It takes more time, energy and more importantly it cost more to reuse or refurbish any of those any parts.

Can't really blame Honda for publicizing the event. After all their manufacturing plant received enormous amount of attention/coverage from the media when it was inundated two months ago. They are on the defense. They need to show the world what they are doing lest the buying public gets paralyzed with anything Honda made in Thailand.
