Replace engine or Overhaul? Honda City 04 iDSI

Hi fellow tsikoteer's

Badly need your advice , I have a big problem with my car's engine. There's a ticking sound whenever the engine is running
(at least not a tok..tok ). My mechanic also found out oil is spewing from the dipstick.

He told me engine overhaul is needed to repair the engine.

Need your inputs on the following

1. The cost of overhaul is around 40-45k. Which is the best option engine overhaul or engine replacement?
2. What is the price range of surplus engine?brandnew ?
3. I'm from Q.C. area (mindanao) any reputable service shops that you can recommend?

pa compression test po ninyo muna.. baka naman po hindi kailangan overhaul...

Yeah. If the engine isn't clunking, losing tons of oil and severely down on power, overhauling it is probably a waste of money.

1. Get a compression test.
2. Have it looked at by someone who knows L-series engines.

Ah saan kaya pwede mag pa compresion test?

There are quite a few shops that can do it. Just ask around for the one closest to you.

Just got my car repaired today, buti na lng nag-post ako dito sa forum laki talaga tulong.

Eto yung mga ginawa

1. Compression test- Passed 220 passing is 160..
2 Complete tune-up (spark plugs replaced, throttle AC cleaned pati intake manifold, adjusted valve clearance)
3. Tsaka nag pa bleed na din ako breaks..additional lng..

Buti wala ko pera nung sinabi pa-overhaul..hehe. Mas ok na ngaun takbo hindi na namatay makina kahit naka idle.
