A teenager here. Kasi may AUV naman kami for family purposes. Or if you would suggest, what second hand car model and type ung suitable for me? basta sedan sana o hatchback type. Thankyou! A total noob here regarding cars.

Sentra B14, Corolla Big Body, Lancer Itlog are much better choices than what you have in mind. Or Civic EK na stock...

Pwede din Toyota Bb or Suzuki Jimny

Hehe.

    * TS, ano ba priorities mo?

    Barkada - ano makina niyan?
TS - o tara testingin natin ung dalawa

    good or bad? hmm......

kung enthusiast ka with money to spare.. it's good

pero kung medyo newbie ka limit budget.. i dont think it's a good idea

dami kasi issues (monetary i mean) ang hatch since it's a very old car, kailangan mo ng atleast basic mechanical knowledge on maintaining an old car kundi ubos pera mo sa maintenance pa lang.

Pa wash over mo nalang, and tatagal naman yan,

Kung ako, ill find the best conditioned eg hatch out there,
Wash over, top overhaul, put in a nice set of rims,
    And yan, pogi na.

I used to own a '95 EG hatch and owned it for more than 10 years. On a stock engine you wouldn't really enjoy it but for starters like you, it would be enough to get to places and as well as teach you the basics of maintaining a vehicle. 3 years ago I swapped the engine with a larger D16a VTeC engine and boy was it fun to drive. The "new" engine being much larger in displacement quite surprisingly improved the fuel consumption. At worst I would get to around 9km per liter on heavy traffic and can go as far as 14km/l on long distance driving.

Maintenance-wise nagkalat ang parts ng honda and price-wise is comparable to Corollas. I never really had major problems with my hatch even after the swap as I had the this done at a reputable shop.

The EG hatch is one tough vehicle and until this day is a head turner. It's quite difficult to find one in stock form though considering its age and as this vehicle can easily be modded and a favorite among different age groups. If you do find one in stock form one disadvantage I can think of is that since this car was released here locally under the "People's Car" program back in the day is that it came bare with no power steering and other power amenities. To some this could be a disadvantage but to others a challenge and make the experience of owning one really fulfilling.

You can visit you're suking Japan surplus shops and have these installed. The Japan and US versions came with these options and should be a bolt-on affair with some help to get these to work of course from your suking electrician.

If you are keen on getting an EG hatch, I would suggest that you orient yourself well and expect that these can be rust buckets but with the proper body work and treatment will let it stand for the years to come. Bring a mechanic with you when you go shopping for one to make sure that the vehicle is mechanically sound and roadworthy.

When you get the chance to have one, have all the fluids replaced, brakes checked and/or replaced and the engine tuned to specs. Bring it to streets, enjoy it while driving responsibly.

EG HATCH - Good or Bad?
