Your car should already be equipped with cabin filter. If so, avoid the removal of the dash just to clean the evaporator.
The evaporator should be fine. If you choose to disturb it, noises, missing parts, stripped threads go with it.

The Civic's evaporator doesn't require full removal of the dashboard. If I remember correctly, they just removed the blower and bits of plastic ducting to get to the evaporator. This is the Civic FD, which has very similar A/C design to the 7th Gen.

I've had good luck with Frigid Zone along Mindanao Ave., QC.

I suggest you calling them up or dropping by for an estimate.

I don’t know... for a 16 y/o car? In my experience, a car that old, cabin filter or not, marumi na evaporator coils nyan.

If you have a USB borescope, you can inspect the evaporator’s actual condition. At most, you just need to remove the blower for access.

    i second the motion.
and i go one further. i see if i can launder the filter, instead of purchasing a new one.

Mura lang cabin filter kaya palit na lang ng bago. Saka It's made of paper so not intended to be washed.

estimated nia 3500 ung cleaning ung freon is 1200 plus cabin filter 600 depende pa yan kng wla clang mktang pplitan. i dont know if it is justifiable price.

1500-1800 is too cheap for decent aircon cleaning service ... Refrigerant cost alone is already 1,000+ ... Maybe they are recycling refrigerant ... It's not advisable ...

Hi there! Welcome to the community. 😊 For a Honda Civic 2002, cleaning the car aircon usually involves a thorough chemical wash, especially if you notice reduced cooling or odor. When the evaporator is cleaned, the freon (refrigerant) is often replaced to ensure the system works efficiently.

In Singapore, professional services like Aircon Servicing handle both cleaning and refilling safely, preventing leaks and restoring performance. For example, a friend had his Civic aircon cleaned here, and after the chemical wash and freon top-up, the cooling became noticeably stronger and the air fresher.

You can check detailed service options and pricing by click here. It’s often more cost-effective than DIY and guarantees proper handling of the freon.
