Honda HR-V e:HEV previewed, could be priced from P1.6-M to P1.9-M | TopGear PH

The HR-V e:HEV now also becomes the RS variant and sits atop the range above the V and the S. The hybrid trim gets a few new added amenities including the power liftgate, reverse-tilting side mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers.

    I'm confused.

Being from the United States, the Honda three-horse SUV/crossover line up is:

    HRV (entry level size)

    CRV (mid-size)

    Pilot (larger).

I started hearing about something called the 'BRV' in late 2023, before living abroad, and now see in the Philippines almost one BRV for every CRV.

Is the BRV the same as what North America calls the HRV?

It's a nice size machine, and I'd love a low-mileage 5 year old copy, preferably with power moonroof if possible.

BR-V (1st Gen & 2nd Gen) we have here shares the same platform with the Brio and Amaze.

HR-V (now on its 3rd Gen) shares the same platform with the Fit/Jazz/City. US, Europe and China has a different version from the "global version" we have locally.

    Really!

Because when I saw a late model HR-V and a Fit in the same U.S. parking lot, I recall the HR-V being bigger in every direction (longer, wider, and taller) than the Fit. I guess a cross-model platform can be enlarged to underpin a new or different model?

Back in the mid-1970s, Ford announced the innovative (for its time) FOX platform, which underpinned the '77-80 or so Fairmont midsize family saloon, and the much smaller 3rd-Gen 1979-1992 Ford Mustang. So they probably narrowed the Fox platform track a few inches, and shortened it a bit, to carry the new '79 Pony.

    One thing for sure:

The term "moonroof" has not yet become widely accepted term, in Philippines, for what I'm looking for.

In North America we differentiate as following:

"Sunroof" = Rooftop opening of material matching roof and roof color. Examples: Many older (1990s, 1980s, European such as Volvo and Mercedes)

"Moonroof = Rooftop opening of glass, plus underneath sliding sun shade when no daylight is desired into the car interior.

US, Europe and China uses the same platform as the 11th Gen Civic.

Here’s what each variant of the new Honda HR-V has to offer | TopGear PH

The Honda HR-V isn’t exactly what we’d call under-equipped, but the facelifted version does get more features. So, while the prices are up, there is more in here than before.

I know what you mean. Sunroof = opening is metal like the roof. Moonroof = opening is glass. The Isuzu Trooper came out with a Skyroof edition which is really a moonroof.

Having a sun/moonroof can also become a hassle in the long run. Rusts can form in the gaps where it's placed over time if not meticulously cleaned every now and then. Happened to our pajero bk before it was sold back then.
