what can you say about this ladies and gentlemen? DILG to place order in Foton Motors of 2,500 units of Blizzard for brand-new patrol vehicle worth 2.08 Billion, Hell' there's other a lot of choices which is more durable and reliable (subok na), like Isuzu D-Max and Nissan Frontier

Magiging junk lang yung mga patrol cars in no time. What more if foton.

I don't know the story, but most likely, it was simply that Foton was the lowest bidder for the required specifications, and that price had the highest weight in their selection criteria. Ganun lang.

Even the BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology) replaced their fleets with these Foton. motioncars.com | Autobuzz | Blessing of New BJMP Foton Vans Held

Just like when the MPD replaced their fleet with so many Chevy Optra for patrol cars in 2005. Or when they bought so many Suzuki Samurai (totally ill fitting as patrol cars in the metro) before that.

Kahit anong sasakyam ibigay sa gov. Laspag mapa benz bmw audi pa yan. Wala kasing accountability at walang check and balance.

Amen to that. There's more to a gov't bidding than meets the eye. Dapat my durability tests pa yan amongst the criteria. They can also share notes with the MMDA who has many run down Foton pick-ups (mas tumagal pa yung mga Mazda 323 nila).

Taena, mag Crosswind or Frontier nalang sila. Basta yung mga may old-school diesel. Heck i'd bet a Multicab will fare better in the long run.

Mas sosy kina Boybi, alam ko Civic or City yung patrol car dun dati sa bukid nila. :D

Come to think of it, wala na yatang patrol cars dito sa amin.

    OT:

Actually these Optra(s) are not abandoned unlike some of those 2008 Vios parked at the MPD Hq.

MPD assigned a unit or two with new markings "MPD Women's and Children's Welfare task force" ek ek ek Complete with Menyak tint. There is also another one unmarked unit that has bodykits and magwheels, If I'm not mistaken. Easy to spot these units bec. they all sport those backyard produced tags with inscription of "MPD-xxx"

Yeah, Foton may have submitted the lowest bid. But given the expected reliability of their brand, they can easily make it up through parts and labor when these break down after a month's use.

    =============

NLEX (or was it MMDA? ) also bought a few of these lime colored Foton pickups back in 2005 or something.

    or

Even Dole (the fruits company) ordered from Foton three years ago.
DOLE Philippines Inc. chooses the Foton Blizzard for its fleet

I don't know what is it with Foton.

So far big companies like San Miguel, Pldt, Maynilad, Tanduay Meralco, don't appear to have embraced any China brand into their fleets.

In QC, Vios pa rin yung favorite nilang patrol car. In most cases, may bangga or bulag na yung mga ilaw.

What happened already to the San Juan FnF police cars? Buhay pa ba?

the guys behind Foton are the same buys behind United Auctioneers

i dont know them personally but everybody in the industry (Japan used trucks & heavy machine importers) knows them to be very shrewd businessmen

and when they do things they do it big

so it's not surprising to us they're able to sell fleets of Foton vehicles to government agencies and private companies

All recent AFP purchases come bundled with a few years' worth of service and spares. I hope the DILG considered that too.
