IF you see the existing MMDA Fotons. They still run but heck, everything else is literally falling off...

Same feedback I get from elsewhere. The engines aren't a big problem, but the body integrity is. (At least for the Blizzard).

At least they're Blizzards. Simple trucks, easy to fix, easy to understand.

With the PCSO, we get stuck with the Foton View Ambulance, which has a lot of interior trim that degrades and discolors over time.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I guess the only guys who also seem to buy their products are the government as well. Hardly see any private Foton pickups. Yung trucks maybe but once private companies have not-so-good experience, they'll switch back to the usual Mitsu-Isuzu trucks.

yup they know selling China vehicles to the private sector would be tough so they went to the govt

alam naman natin mahirap ka-deal ang gobyerno but those guys went ahead and became very successful

    sigurado katakot-takot na lobbying yan

Pag-bidding kasi out na agad ang bias. As long as kumpleto ang requirements and lowest bid panalo. I'm still hoping na kasama sa budget ang parts and maintenance even for a few years para masulit naman.

Instead of putting your marketing budget for ads and promos, ipinapangbayad nalang to get the contracts.

With gov't bidding, even if you are the lowest bidder and with a good product (and intent), hahanapan ka ng butas to give the contract to the "favored" supplier/contractor.

I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt although their track record does not deserve it. Biddings are open to the public and on budgets this big I'm sure the media will be there watching. Let's see kung magreklamo ang losing bidders

    -Edit
Teka may final decision na ba? They have 30-45 days to create prototypes and only then will the bidding start:
The DILG chief has tasked the officials of the PNP to come up with new specifications for the new vehicles it would bid out which include its fuel, engine displacement, horsepower, transmission among others.

“On the part of the PNP, I will give them the challenge of coming out with new specs for the new vehicles to be procured, the attachment of roofing and convertible seats, with the end in view na walang question on their end, na walang bahid ng anomalya o kontrobersya” the DILG chief said.

The car manufacturers interested in joining the bidding would be required to produce a prototype of the vehicle they would supply to the PNP.

“We will give them (car dealers) 30 to 45 days to come up with their respective prototypes which they would present to the various PNP offices involved in the bidding,” he said.

Panalong panalo sila sa bidding. Even without having to cut prices, they're already way below the Japanese brands, even if the distributors cut their income to 1-2%... whereas Foton could sell for close to consumer pricing (with maybe a few percent discount).

And if they can sell that many at market price, of course, puwede pang i-bundle yan ng free servicing... five year contracts. (service, not oil and spares )

Proposal, kung ok... p.o. na sila... pag na deliver mo goods mo, cod na agad.. almost no waiting time... not even a day..
