I have the same sintement...lahat naman sana ng bahay ay may car park provision.

    Post a sign like this:

If you don't mind us scratching your car, we don't mind you blocking the driveway.

They can't blame you for that. Or put bird poop all over.

i remember the measure sponsored by congressman gatchalian to ease the problem of traffic in the metro, wherein, as an offshoot, a thread was opened here. the same was met, to put it too mildly, with a little resistance as shown in the comments posted in the thread.

backreading the posts in this thread, the worn-out adage "what goes around, comes around" couldn't be any truer.

the two threads are actually interrelated.

and i'd like to post a portion of my comment in that thread here, thus:

i just finished reading house bill no. 5098 a.k.a. "proof of parking space act," including the explanatory note given by its author rep. sherwin gatchalian of valenzuela.

in so many words, all that it requires is for buyers of cars to submit an affidavit notarized before a notary public that he has parking space for that car.

i believe that the salutary objective of this measure is all-too evident as shown in its policy declaration clause. the bill did not prevent people from buying as many cars he can afford to buy so long as they have spaces where they can park these cars, AND NOT SOMEBODY ELSE DRIVEWAYS, SIDE STREETS OR OPEN SPACES.

according to mr. gatchalian, citing a DTI data, over 22,400 new cars are being sold every month. (not to mention surplus car that are sold every month.) he said that this measure, which is already being practiced in Japan and India, will prevent Metro Manila from turning into a big parking space.

“The problem with traffic is not only confined in the big city streets such as EDSA… The motor vehicles that continue to occupy the side streets, parked and idle, are hindrance to foot and automobile traffic in most of our streets,” said Gatchalian at a hearing of the House of Representatives transportation committee.

last night while we were having a homeowners' officers meeting in my house (officer kasi ako) a call came to the assiciation president complaining about a car parked across a driveway making it difficult for the owner to enter his garage. expesition kasi kotse kaya need free yung harap ng driveway nya. also we have a 1-side-parking-only policy and this car was parked on the no parking side. no one knew who the car belongs to. when the guard was called he said the driver said he was going to a particular address. however he dis not call the address nor get the i.d. of the driver. when the said address was called they said they do not know the owner of the car nor did any visitor call on them that day. and the car had been there aince mid afternoon. anyway the barangay dpso were called and it was suggested that the car be towed. the dpso promptly called the towing service and the car was towed in no time. ang bilis nila dumating parang nasa kanto lang e hahaha!

anyway a few minutes later the car owner arrived. it turned out he actually was visiting in the adjacent subdivision and finding no place to park there decided to park his car inside our subdivision. the barangay dpso just told him he could not do that and to just go to the impounding area where his car was taken. when he asked what the towing fee was he almost fainted. P6000! that is probably one of the most expensive 8 hours parking fee hahaha!
