I remember a time in Daang Hari after TS Cruz. There was this kamote banking into all the lanes, preventing me from overtaking. What I did was get closer to him & at the next bend, when he was going to bank, I blew my horn long. Ang sma ng tingin sakin, hehehe

These kamote riders deserve any such untoward things that happen to them for just being idiots and reckless on the road. I feel no remorse for them. They practically have no care whatsoever to other motorists or pedestrians.

that's "fine", if they cause the misfortune by themselves, without any "help" from anyone.
in such cases, they deserve everything that comes their way.

but if we willfully contribute to the cause of their misfortune,
then we are no better than them.

I’ve been thinking of going on a road trip to Nasugbu through Kaybiang tunnel but, with a road full of kamotes, that will just spoil the drive.

Since when did usual motorists force these camotes to an accident? Bus pa siguro. Most of us would veer away from such mishaps due to the hassle of repairs.

Worse of all, masagi or mabangga ka ng kamote tapos kasalanan mo pa. Even more so, wala pa helmet, lisensya, at rehistro yung kamote rider.

A friend who lives in the province once related this story to me. He was turning home to his village after midnight when he felt a nudge on his Hi ace. Since it is a dark road, he was scared that it could be a robbery attempt so, he hurried into his village. Once home, he checked the back & noticed a dent on the door. When he opened it, a tooth fell out. Worried, he went back & found a Kamote on the road. He brought the guy to the hospital to be treated then filed a report with the police. The kamote was drunk, driving without a license, didn’t have his lights on & didn’t even own the m/c. He also had the gall to file a hit & run case on my brother. After a few months of back & forth, my brother’s lawyer just told him to pay the Kamote P40k & forget about it. Kaya matapang mga kumag na yan.

When I lived in Bacoor, I’ve seen Kamotes sprawled on the road, without anyone assisting them for 4 consecutive weeks. I won’t be surprised if these were deliberate.

there was this video on TV.
there was this segment of public road, where motorcyclists inexplicably kept slipping and falling as they passed over this segment of road.
    finally, the mystery was solved.
it would appear, a religious procession had recently passed by this road. the participants were brandishinhg candles. the candle droppings on the road surface proved to be too slippery for the motorsiklistas.

I wouldn’t pay a peso if it were me. They should have told the court that your Brother had the kind heart to bring the drunk rider to the hospital and it was not his fault the idiot ran into him. That kamote rider practically waived all his rights on the road - drunk, no license, no lights, and not riding his vehicle. He should be thankful to your brother.

    i agree. sweet potato.

    but i wonder,
how much is it costing the defendant?
is it possible that giving the 40K is much cheaper than proceeding with the hearings?

I doubt such kamote would want a long and dragging fight in court. Baka wala pambayad sa abogado.

I once heard this from an officemate before. A kamote beat the red light and rammed his Civic’s rear right door in ERod corner Araneta. He brought the rider to the hospital and paid for the bills. A few weeks later, the rider sought an audience seeking money for damages. My officemate brought his lawyer and they said that the rider blatantly didn’t follow traffic regulations and he was at fault. My officemate said he can pay for the damages of the motorcycle but the rider has to pay him for the damage to his car, the hospital bills, and the fee of his lawyer. The rider dropped all his claims. Wala pala pambayad, kapal ng mukha!

Happened to me also, idiot backed up sa car ko (it was a car also) He did NOT have a license and it was not his car. Pati yung pagkaka bangga, talong talo sila kasi rear door ko tama, sa kanila rear bumper! Bumusina ako because I saw him backing up na pero ENGOT. The asshole had the gall to lie pa sa police station that it was my fault. I wanted to punch him because I hate liars! Anyway, ganun na rin, sabi ng exKuya ko, my then BF and his lawyer barkada to let it go kasi mas hassle pa maghabol, and yes lawyers are extremely expensive, acceptance fee, consultation at appearance. Hindi naman lahat can afford to have a lawyer on retainer that they can call every time may legal issue Kaya malalakas loob ng mga kamote kasi alam nila bihira ang mag pursue ng case

    it happened to me, also.
the tsuper didn't have money to buy me a jollibee dinner, much more pay for my replacement bumper, grille, fender, headlight, and labor & paint job, even if i chopped him to bits. we really wanted him to visit his ancestors then and there. at least, that would have given us some sort of pretzelized satisfaction.

I am not privy to all the details to explain to you guys the reason for it but, he didn’t want to settle first, out of principle. The case was filed in QC so, imagine how taxing & expensive that is: lost income, lawyers expense, travel expense etc... & security had he won (most likely) kasi baka balikan sya. So, P40k is really cheap for my bro but a fortune for a kamote. Akala ng engot nanalo sya sa lotto.

Kung ako yan, I would just let him lie all he want.

So wala na chance magsinungaling yung isa.

The least they can do is apologize.

Pero it's true everyone should have a dash cam, I should really get one

Get one (or two para pati sa likod) for peace of mind.

1st time someone lying straight to my face sa isang pangyayaring kagaganap lang.

A guy backed up into me to swerve kasi may bus sa harap nya. I just can't believe what I'm hearing.
