Sen. Ramon Magsaysay Jr. has filed a Senate bill which seeks to charge with ***ual harassment individuals sending vile and smutty messages either through text or e-mail.
PEOPLE who enjoy sending ***ually suggestive messages through text and electronic mail, beware.
A proposal has been made to consider these messages as a form of ***ual harassment.
Sen. Ramon Magsaysay Jr. has filed a Senate bill which seeks to charge with ***ual harassment individuals sending vile and smutty messages either through text or e-mail.
The bill also aims to amend the 1995 Law on ***ual Harassment.
"Because of the growing number of people gaining access to these modern technologies, their use has been deliberately harmful to those who are bombarded with unwanted mail and text messages," Magsaysay said.
Based on the records of the National Telecommunication Commission, nine million Filipino cellphone users receive at least two to three ***ual messages daily.
Similarly, the Department of Science and Technology and the Philippine Internet Society have estimated that around three million Filipinos will have access to the Internet by the end of 2000, making it a widespread utility which is consistently flooded with garbage mail.
Once ratified, Magsaysay is confident his measure will promote more responsible use of the electronic communication technology.
