Tailgating!

This incident puts a big grin on my face everytime i remember it!

This happens a couple of years back... as i was drving along Mcarthur hiway from Angeles City going San Fernando, Pampanga... I was driving my sister-in-law's starex van, then this Mazda b2000 pick-up, lowered, with lots of spray painting done on its body, and with a blasting sound... suddenly cuts my way ! so ako, easy lang... then they got stuck behind a dump truck, they kept on honking their horns, and flashing their headlights para tumabi yung truck... then as i passed by them... i honk my horn up until i i passed the truck... then yun na, they started to tailgate me with bright and flashing lights... pag nagbagal ako para makalagpas sila, sundan lang nila ako... so i just played with them, tried brake testing then swerve napikon siguro they tried to pass me but i never gave them a chance... here's the fun part... about 100-200 meters ahead of me i saw a TRICYCLE on the outer lane, and dump truck on the inner lane and lots of century year old acacia trees on the sides... i just speed up with the pick-up just a few meters away from my butt ... i barely squeezed between the tricycle and the dump truck.... then **BBBLLLLLAAAAGGGG**... with a few feet to react and 110KPH... he slammed his Mazda b2000 pick-up, lowered, with lots of spray painting done on its body, and with a blasting sound... on one of the acacia trees...

Hehe, napagtripan ako kanina ng isang silver Exped. Simula Libis hanggang Katipunan bumuntot sakin kahit na hindi ko naman inagrabyado at binigyan ko ng daan para makalagpas. Pagbaba ng tulay ng Katipunan, tinaasan pa yung ilaw tapos mas tumutok pa. Medyo kinabahan ako kaya hinatawan ko, pero humabol parin. So, nang nakakita ako ng isang mabagal na tricycle at barikada para sa mga uu-turn, binagalan ko ng konti at ng medyo malapit na ako sa barikada, bigla akong lumiko sa lane nung tricycle. Hehe, malayo pa sa tricycle, pero kung Exped maaalangan na. Aba, humabol parin pero tingin ko nakalawit siya ng konti nung barikada kasi biglang prumeno. Muntik din niyang tamaan yung tricycle. Tingin ko lasing na galing sa gimik ang may dala.

Anyways, sa malamang may gasgas naman na yung Exped niya kaya matututo na siguro yun.

The moral here is.... dont tailgate! :D

Ang dami na kasing times ako involved sa situations na ito e. Just wanted to get your 0.02s :D

dati kung may nagtatailgate sakin tapos di naman ako mabagal, what I do is turn on my park lights then patay... kala nila prumeno ka pero hindi... hehe they'll back off and you'll pull away faster...

lagay kaya tayo ng windshield washer nozzle sa rear tapos imbes na water ang spray e 23 molal nitric acid! or even just paint remover! pag may nag-tail gate just push a button ehehehe!

I don't tailgate.Takaw disgrasya. As for vehicles who tailgate me, I move away from them at the soonest possible time. Better safe than sorry.

kung minsan ginagawa ko na ito sa isang mabagal na Altis J sa inner lane ng coastal road running on 80kph, kahit anong flash ko ng light eh ayaw tumabi, so nag HI BEAM ako at medyo tailgate sa kanya para mainis at masilaw (which I know is wrong)

so ayun nainis nga yung driver, iniwan na ako at humarurot, hindi na ako nag-attempt humabol dahil happy na ako sa 100kph speed ko and alam ko naman na wala akong laban sa high speed hehe..

well, post ko lang yung recent experience ko sa tailgating. happened early last night. began in EDSA-Kamias flyover northbound. this white lancer glxi, XEZ-111 happened to be passing me - in short, na-cut nya ako pero nasira ang momentum nya nung biglang kumat din yung bus sa harap namin. being passive, i let it go as it is. pero when i saw the gap, i took advantage and passed. thus, leaving the lancer behind me. a few moments later, i saw the said vehicle keeping the pace with me at cruise speed of 80 km/h which is the maximum legal speed. but then the lancer took the chance to pass me, which is fine with since i will not go any faster. as soon as nagkatapat kami, he signalled as if "let's get it on" which i bluntly ignored as he speed leaving me behind his wake. but as he gains distance the armored van squared him away forcing him to brake and reduce speed in the process as i pass him. a second later, the car's behind me again- forcing me to pull over. but i held my lane and speed as i believed i'm travelling at the legal speed. if somebody wanted to pass, they are free to do so.

the chase is off as we both approached the SM North EDSA. as i tried to evade further trouble, by squeezing and easing with every gap. i lost the lancer, thought i shook him off my tail. it was fairly smooth ride until cloverleaf area, when this lancer re-appeared on my rear-view mirror- again. poking me as ever even in NLEX. i gave up. but then the lancer seemed wanted a piece of me. so he cut and thrust as if to tell i couldn't keep up. so once for all, i wanted to settle it and gave the person what he wanted. he wanted chase, i gave him a chase. off goes my high beam and dropped a cog, flatting out each gear, extracting every amount of torque available. must have hit around 140-150 km/h when i gave the lancer a 'fly-by' as i passed him.

even in meycauayan exit, the lancer kept on messing me. so every inch, i kept on boxing him off. a message that says 'don't mess with me"...

dami ogags sa daan, ako tinigil ko na nung prinenuhan ko yung provincial bus na puro pailaw at busina sa akin kasi natakot ako nung nakita ko sa rear view mirror na umusog yung mga passenger paharap, lakas ng busina nung bus at pinilit ako habulin. Binilisan ko na lang talaga, pero nakonsensya ako baka kasi may nagpanic na pasahero dun sa ginawa ko. Iwas n lang ako, kahit makulit bahala ka na. Don't tailgate tall vehicles like aluminum vans, trailer vans and the likes pag ikaw nag tailgate sa kanila ilalagay ka nila sa aksidente like dragging you to a danger side sabay iwas, ikaw ang salpok sa mga nakahinto sa shoulder. Dami aksidente nyan sa SLE.
