They share the basic chassis, but they're not rebadges. They're completely different cars. The Mazda is lighter, uses a different (better) steering system, and uses different engines and transmissions (same engine architecture, bespoke heads and ECUs). The suspension is partially compatible, though.
Mazda uses boron steel, also... but I think more of it, which is partially why it's lighter than the Fiesta.
