I remember the news before about a general, an embarrassing scene was played on TV when a Filipino
general was carried on someone else' shoulder so he wouldn't get wet when
he stepped off a banca. The American officer on the other hand waded
in the water and stepped off the banca without any help. See the
symbolism on why the Philippines has problems ?

I think the Filipino General should be fired. How could he win the war
against the Abu Sayaf? Eh, tubig lang takot na siya. Nakakahiya!!
Lalong nakakahiya doon sa Kano na kasunod niya.

i think ganito talaga ang culture natin. if we can avoid something we would definitely try to avoid it. example pedestrian overpass. if filipinos could take the easy way they will definitely not walk up the pedestrian crossing.. just like riding jeepneys and busses.. filipinos wont go down and walk 2meters they would wait for the jeep to cover that 2 meters even thou someone just steped out of the jeep 2 meters back..

im a filipino. so by no means am i looking down on my fellow filipinos.. but to go back to the topic. for what ever reason i think its really shame on the general.period.

That general is retired already. A friend of mine used to work for that guy. According to him, that picture was taken in 2004 and it drew flak from people who saw it in the armed forces..

Walang parusang ipapataw si Pangulong Arroyo sa tinaguriang "hydrophobic" general na nakunan ng litratong pinapasan ng isang bangkero habang tumatawid sa tubig para hindi mabasa ang sapatos.

Sinabi ng Pangulo na lumabas sa imbestigasyong iniutos niya kay AFP Chief Gen. Diomedio Villanueva na hindi lang pala si Air Force Brig. Gen. Marciano Ilagan ang binuhat ng bangkero mula sa bangka kundi maging ang iba pang opisyal. "Naging kaugalian na pala ng mga bangkero doon na kargahin ang lahat na pasahero para maitawid sa tubig. Sinamang palad nga lang na nakunan ng litrato si Gen. Ilagan," sabi ng Pangulo.

Guys, in my own opinion mas ok na si general ang binuhat niya at least kababayan pa kesa yung kano ang binuhat niya. insulto nayun kung yung kano ang binuhat niya. Natural lang sa mga Military at PNP ang abusado eh. alam naman natin yan eh, sa bus nga di pa nagbabayad eh diba.
