The police patola could have been easily misinterpreted as a threat to the president's safety by not following the hagad. Sayang niyari na lang sana. Menos goon sa daan.

i once saw Pnoy's convoy on quirino ave cor south expressway. they stopped on a red light and i did not hear any wang wangs. but the situation with this particular policeman was different. the gagong policeman was blocking the convoy which is a security threat. in the US, the secret service will even throw you in prison for blocking the convoy....

First and foremost, the President has all the right to be given way on the road as a matter of national security. That is the same case anywhere when it comes to the head of state. The policeman is quite lucky as he was reprimanded and apprehended, and not rammed off the road or shot at (like what some other lesser politicos do). The US Secret Service even have wreckers that have a sole purpose of ramming anything that gets in the way of the Cadillac One.

Secondly, hindi naman si Pnoy yung nagpatabi. He probably even never had an idea that such a thing happened until after the incident. The guy even stops at all stoplights unlike a certain black guy we all know.

I never liked GMA but i still gave way to her convoy whenever i encountered it. Same goes for emergency vehicles and known high officials (whether we like them or not). And yes, strictly removing the wang wang mentality on the road has made quite a difference and you'll see that if you drive in EDSA rush hour traffic almost every day. Before i would encounter anywhere between 3-5 of those abusive idiots on any given day and now, they're not as obvious as before. They're still there but not on as grand a scale as it was during GMA's term.

I don't think one can call PNoy's convoy abusive. Especially not if one compares it to those of past presidents. It's a risk that he stops in traffic to obey traffic rules. But not because he adheres to those rules does it mean anyone can just get in his way. Plus it doesn't matter if PNoy is in a hurry for a date or an official function, he is still the President. If you get in his convoy's way, you should be dealt with. Duterte for DILG? Hehehe!

On a side note, PSG units are to be upfitted with ram bumpers from our favorite off road shop.

Just because the president follows traffic rules, it doesnt mean that you can block his path just to show that you can.

The PSG still exerts effort to clear the way in a courteous manner. And its no big loss on our part if we just yield. Its not as if we see his convoy everyday.

Even if you do, it's not as if they run you off the road as your everyday King -- the jeepney, bus ,trike or even pedicab. Even the 'friendly' neighborhood tanod mobiles probably run their sirens off more often.

You see uniformed cops on big bikes, big SUVs bearing the PSG insignia (or kahit wala) with red plates, running in a convoy, what else do you want? Move aside. Sure it could be some other arrogant politico hiding behind his bodyguards, so what's new? But why stay in their way on purpose? Because SP010 was a cop, he gets to play Robin Hood and go against the convoy? Malas niya kay PNoy pala.

I'm not a fan of these politicos in their convoys. One car + one back up should be enough, the rest are for show and unnecessary IMO. I appreciate PNoy's No wangwang policy because it rid the streets from these abusive convoys. It's also a good gesture that he actually follows road rules by not running red lights. You can't ask for much more in terms of operating in traffic.

SPO2 Pascual has too many violations IMO and no rights of his is trampled. Alam natin na matindi security ng Presidente and he should have had a delicadeza dahil Boss niya pa rin yan. IMO, he deserved what he got for his violations and subsequesnt actions. Dami na pala kaso at reklamo dyan before. Mabuti na yung mabawasan ng kups sa mga kapulisan natin.
